Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Looking to return to winning ways after falling a goal short at The Etihad last night, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Conference League, and there is one side that catches my eyes for goals.

⚽️ PAOK 🇬🇷 vs Club Brugge 🇧🇪

🇪🇺 Conference League

⏰ Thursday 18th April, 20:00

PAOK welcome Club Brugge to the Toumba Stadium in the second leg of their Conference League quarter-final, and I’m backing the hosts to bag another double at home in Europe.

Just like in the previous round, PAOK are looking to overcome a first-leg deficit, as after losing 2-0 in Croatia against Dinamo Zagreb in the last-16, Răzvan Lucescu’s men lost 1-0 in Belgium last week. The Salonica-based club overcame the perennial Croatia champions thanks to a 5-1 thrashing in the second leg, meaning they have won five and drawn one of their previous six Conference League fixtures on home soil. Domestically, PAOK are involved in a thrilling title race, where they currently sit in 3rd, two points behind leaders AEK with a game in hand over both sides above them.

Club Brugge breezed through the group stages of the Conference League, collecting 16 points from a possible 18, but found things a lot tougher in the last 16, where they had to overcome a 2-1 loss in Norway before winning in Brugge 3-0 to seal a 4-2 aggregate success. Nicky Hayen’s visitors head to Greece with a 1-0 lead but would’ve felt frustrated not adding to that tally, especially after missing a penalty in the final quarter of an hour. Domestically, Brugge are 3rd in the table, five points behind leaders Anderlecht.

Bet of the Day

PAOK have scored 34 goals across their 15 matches in the Conference League this campaign, with 20 (59%) of them coming across their last six at home. The Asprómavri have struck on multiple occasions in 10 of their previous 12 Conference League contests – including in each of their last six at home – and given their need to overturn a one-goal deficit – I’m happy to take a chance the Greek hosts to bag a double for the seventh consecutive home match.

To nudge the price up, I’m happy to throw in both sides to pick up a card. This selection has landed in all 15 (100%) of PAOK’s Conference League contests this term, with the same also paying out in 14/15 (93%) of Club Brugge’s European encounters this campaign.
