Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Belgian Challenge Pro League table meet at the Herman Vanderpoortenstadion on Sunday evening as eighth-placed Lierse entertains seventh-placed Lommel in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Christophe Grégoire’s hosts have scored 23 goals across their opening 14 fixtures in the Challenge Pro League this term, with an impressive 17 (74%) of them coming in front of their supporters
The Geel-Zwart have found the back of the net in each of their opening seven league outings on home soil – striking on multiple occasions in six (86%) of them – and will be confident of adding to their goal-tally at home against a Lommel defence that’s registered a solitary shutout in the league this season, conceding 23 goals.
Ex-Arsenal defender Steve Bould has seen his side score 21 goals across their opening 14 matches in the Belgian second tier this term, with 15 (71%) of them coming on their travels.
Lommel have hit the target in all bar one of their past 12 league outings – notching on multiple occasions in four of their last seven road trips – and will look to breach a Lierse defence that has kept just three clean sheets in the league this season and none in their past eight.

Lierse’s opening eight home matches in the Belgian second tier this season have averaged an eye-catching 3.38 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in seven (88%) of them – including in each of their past six – whilst each of their previous four have also produced goals at both ends.
Lommel are the Both Teams to Score kings in the Belgian second tier, with 12/15 (80%) of their encounters producing goals at both ends – and given 7/8 (88%) of their road trips have also featured a minimum of three strikes – I’m expecting a high-scoring clash in Antwerp on Sunday night.
