Football Bet of the Day: Back Both to Score at Boreham Wood

After making it seven successive winners in South Lanarkshire on Saturday, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the live fixture in the National League.

Two clubs separated by two places and two points in the National League table meet at Meadow Park tomorrow afternoon as 14th-placed Boreham Wood play host to 16th-placed York City in a fixture that appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Luke Garrard’s hosts have scored 32 goals across their opening 26 matches in the National League this term, with 15 (47%) of them coming at home. The Wood have found the back of the net in 17 of their previous 19 National League fixtures – only failing to score at home to Chesterfield (1st) and away at Barnet (3rd) in that run – and will look to find the back of the net once more against a York defence that’s registered just five clean sheets in the league this season, with just two of them coming on their travels.

Neal Ardley’s visitors have scored 35 goals across their opening 26 National League fixtures this campaign, with 14 (40%) of them coming on their travels. The Minsterman have found the back of the net in 21 of their previous 24 National League fixtures – only failing to score away at Chesterfield (1st), Oldham (6th) and Rochdale (7th) in that run – and will look to find the target once more against a Boreham Wood defence that has recorded only four clean sheets in the league this season, with just one of those coming across their previous 17 matches.

York City’s opening 26 fixtures in the National League this season are averaging 3.00 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 18/26 (69%) of them – and given both have also obliged in 18/26 (69%) of Boreham Wood’s National League fixtures this campaign, including in 14 of their previous 17 – I’m hoping we see a similar outcome to the four goals these two sides shared in the reverse fixture back at the start of September.
