After frustratingly falling a goal short at Crawley last night, Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me once again stay in the EFL, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Coventry will look to climb back inside the Championship playoff places as they travel to Home Park to take on mid-table Plymouth on Wednesday night in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Ian Foster’s hosts have scored 49 goals across their opening 30 matches, with 36 (73%) of them coming at home. The Pilgrims have found the back of the net in all bar one of their 14 matches on home soil – striking on multiple occasions in 11 (79%) of them, including in each of their previous eight – and will be confident of maintain their impressive goal-scoring record at home against a Coventry backline that has registered just two clean sheets on their travels this season.
Mark Robins’ visitors have scored 48 goals across their opening 31 Championship fixtures this season, with 24 (50%) of them coming on their travels. The Sky Blues have found the back of the net in 13/15 (87%) of their away matches in the Championship this term – scoring on multiple occasions in five of their previous eight – and will look to trouble a Plymouth defence that has kept just three clean sheets in front of their supporters this season.

Plymouth’s opening 14 Championship fixtures on home soil this campaign are averaging a league-high 4.21 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals clicking in 10 (71%) of them, including in each of their five – and given the same has landed in each of Coventry’s last seven league outings – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be at least three goals, with both sides scoring in Devon on Wednesday night in what promises to be a highly entertaining affair.
