LAST weekend’s SFL card was almost entirely wrecked by the wintry conditions but let’s hope we have weathered the storm and can come up with a winning treble to help beat the winter blues.
We kick off in the Irn-Bru First Division and focus on Ross County’s away trip to face Raith Rovers.
County have been a revelation since manager Derek Adams returned to the club and find themselves five points ahead of second-placed Falkirk with two games in hand.
They look a good bet to be playing SPL football next season and last week proved they can hold their own against top-flight opposition as they earned a 1-1 draw at St Mirren in the Scottish Cup.
That clash with a team from the SPL will have made them even more determined to be playing in the top flight next season – and I can’t see a Rovers side who are 19 points behind them in the table stopping them from picking up another vital victory.
County ran out narrow 1-0 winners in their last visit to Kirkcaldy last September and I am taking them to triumph again at 10-11 with Paddy Power.
We switch leagues to the IRN-BRU Third Division and focus on Alloa’s home clash with Berwick. Paul Hartley’s men look to be running away with the title and go into this one nine points ahead of second-placed Stranraer.
They are a massive 26 points clear of this weekend’s rivals – I reckon that gap will be extended to 29 points come 4.45 on Saturday afternoon.
Alloa have won their last six matches so take them to notch up another victory at 1-2 with Betfred.
We stay in the Third Division for our final selection and concentrate on Queen’s Park’s home clash with Montrose.
Gardner Speirs’ men have won their last six clashes against Montrose and will be confident of making it a lucky seven against a side they are 12 points ahead of in the table as they look to earn a place in the end-of-season play-offs.
Take Queen’s Park to collect all three points at 4-6, widely available with companies such as Betfred, Stan James and 888sport.
