In this article, we have provided our Fantasy Premier League tips & predictions ahead of Gameweek 25 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.
Gameweek 25 is a double gameweek which means that one or more teams play twice, meaning that there are bigger points potentials for the players and assistant managers involved with these teams. In this gameweek in particular, both Liverpool and Aston Villa play twice each.
Nonetheless, here are our latest FPL tips that should hopefully help make all of those informed transfer, chip and captaincy decisions needed ahead of the deadline…
Our Fantasy Premier League tips
FPL gives out points based on player performances, which can be both positive and negative. It can range from a player scoring a goal (positions are given more points than others, for example a defender will gain six points for scoring a goal as opposed to four for a forward) or being shown a yellow card (-1pt), as well as many other metrics.
Who to have as FPL captain
In Gameweek 25, if you own him, Mohamed Salah is perhaps the most viable captaincy option given his irresistible form for Liverpool in the 2024/25 campaign which continued with a goal and an assist in their most recent fixture in the 2-2 draw away at Merseyside rivals Everton, and the fact that the Reds have two matches to play in both Wolves at home and Aston Villa away.
However, for those who do not own Salah or want to pick a differential captain, Cody Gakpo (£7.6m) could also be a viable option given Liverpool's two fixtures.
Selection | Market-best price |
---|---|
Cody Gakpo to score anytime (vs Wolves) |
6/4 |
Cody Gakpo to score first (vs Wolves) |
5/1 |
Cody Gakpo to score 2+ (vs Wolves) |
7/1 |
Cody Gakpo to score hat-trick (vs Wolves) |
40/1 |
Should the triple-captain chip be used?
Assuming that Salah is the most viable captain choice in Gameweek 25, using the triple-captain chip on him seems very tempting given the big FPL hauls that we know that he is capable of, added to the fact that Liverpool play twice in the same gameweek.
We would always advise, if it has not been used already, to use the chip in a double gameweek, where teams play more than one fixture and therefore give more of a chance of a big points haul for the captain, and Salah could well take advantage of that in Gameweek 25 as Liverpool play both Wolves and Aston Villa at home and away from home respectively.
Who is likely to get booked?
Some FPL managers may be tempted to bring in a number of Liverpool and/or Aston Villa players into their teams as they both play twice in Gameweek 25. Morgan Rogers (£5.6m) is one player that may well catch the eye in this case, but his total of eight yellow cards so far in the 2024/25 campaign is the joint-second highest in the division, and just two more would see the English midfielder serve a two-game suspension.
Market-best odds on Morgan Rogers to be booked (vs Ipswich): 7/1
Which defender is most likely to score?
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m) always has a chance of scoring from a direct free-kick or from open play given how often he bombs forward for Liverpool from right-back. The England international defender gets to play twice in Gameweek 25, which means that he has huge points potential.
Market-best odds on Trent Alexander-Arnold to score anytime (vs Wolves): 13/2
Our top three cheap in-form players
Dominik Szoboszlai
Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.3m) plays the most advanced out of all the Liverpool midfielders, meaning that he can get closer to goal and have more chances for both goals and assists. With two games for the Reds in this gameweek, the Hungary international would provide a cheaper differential to the likes of Salah.
Ibrahima Konate
Ibrahima Konate (£5.2m) provides the cheapest way into Liverpool's defence in terms of guaranteed minutes, and of course will have two matches to potentially earn a big points haul. The French central defender will see their home fixture against a relegation-threatened Wolves side as being a decent chance to secure a clean sheet.
Lucas Digne
Lucas Digne (£4.6m) offers a cheap route into the Aston Villa defence, who of course also play twice in this gameweek. As well as earning points for clean sheets, Digne also offers an extra threat from set pieces, which gives a bonus added route into potential FPL points.
