Fantasy Premier League tips

In this article, we have provided our Fantasy Premier League tips & predictions ahead of Gameweek 13 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Premier League football is back this weekend, as FPL managers stress over making transfers, playing chips and deciding who to captain for Gameweek 13. Here are our latest FPL tips that should hopefully help make all of those informed decisions…

Our Fantasy Premier League tips

FPL gives out points based on player performances, which can be both positive and negative. It can range from a player scoring a goal (positions are given more points than others, for example a defender will gain six points for scoring a goal as opposed to four for a forward) or being shown a yellow card (-1pt), as well as many other metrics.

Who to have as FPL captain

In Gameweek 13, if you own him, Cole Palmer seems like an obvious captain choice, with Chelsea hosting an Aston Villa side that have conceded the most goals out of the teams in the top half of the table (19), and will have used up a lot of energy playing Italian giants Juventus in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in midweek.

However, for those FPL managers who do not own Palmer or want to pick a cheaper differential captain, Bukayo Saka could also be a viable option as Arsenal travel to West Ham United, with fond memories of a 6-0 drubbing at the London Stadium from the last campaign still in Gunners fans' minds.

Should the triple-captain chip be used?

Assuming that Palmer is the most viable captain choice in Gameweek 13, using the triple-captain chip on him could seem a smart choice given that Villa are leaking goals and the England international has shown before that he is fully capable of big FPL hauls.

However, we would advise, if it has not been used already, to use the chip in a double gameweek, where teams play more than one fixture and therefore give more of a chance of a big points haul for the captain.

Who is likely to get booked?

For those FPL managers that cannot quite afford Cole Palmer but still want a piece of the Chelsea attack, Nicolas Jackson provides the next best option in terms of his reliability of minutes and points potential. Indeed, the striker picked up 12 points in the previous gameweek after scoring and assisting in Chelsea's 2-1 away win over Leicester City, but he is currently on four yellow cards as a word of warning, and just one more would see him serve a one-game suspension.

Market-best odds on Nicolas Jackson to be booked: 29/10

Which defender is most likely to score?

Gabriel Magalhaes scored with a header from an in-swinging Declan Rice corner in Arsenal's 5-1 thumping of Sporting CP away in the UCL in midweek, and the Brazilian central defender is usually the Gunners' biggest threat from set-pieces. He has already scored two goals in the Premier League so far in the 2024/25 campaign, and also netted in the same fixture against West Ham last season, so it would not be a surprise to see him on the scoresheet once more.

Market-best odds on Gabriel Magalhaes to score anytime: 15/2

Our top three cheap in-form players

Evanlison

Bournemouth have been impressive under Andoni Iraola, and in FPL, their number nine only costs £6m. That is Evanilson, who has scored three goals in his last four games in the Premier League, and with a favourable set of fixtures coming up on paper including a trip to Wolves in this gameweek, the Brazilian could be one to pick up.

Liam Delap

A striker even cheaper than Evanilson at £5.6m, Liam Delap is another player in fine form for Ipswich Town. Indeed, the Englishman boasts two goals and one assist in his previous four matches in the English top flight, and the Tractor Boys have a relatively nice line of fixtures on paper coming up including a trip to Nottingham Forest over the weekend.

Kaoru Mitoma

Brighton and Hove Albion have a very kind set of fixtures coming up on paper, starting with bottom-of-the-table Southampton visiting them on Friday night. Kaoru Mitoma should prove to be a real threat, and will be full of confidence having scored away at AFC Bournemouth in the previous gameweek.
