STEVEN GERRARD has lofty ambitions for Rangers and should be celebrating a win on his competitive debut.
Gerrard has challenged his new-look team to make the Europa League group stages and while that's a long shot the first obstacle should be overcome without any worries.
A year ago Rangers beat Progres Niederkorn 1-0 at home before being dumped out in Luxembourg.
Don't bank on a repeat as Gerrard has made decent signings and will have his team fired up to get off to a flier in front of an Ibrox full house.
Gers are no bigger than 1-12 at bet365 with Shkupi 28-1 at McBookie so that tells you how the layers feel.
On Tuesday I tipped Celtic -1 and Gers should also cover the handicap but it pays just 1-4 at McBookie while -2 is better at 4-6.
Gerrard's men battered Bury 6-0 in Friday's friendly and a side that finished fifth in Macedonia last season won't be much better than the Englishmen.
Best bet here could be Rangers to win to nil at 3-4 with McBookie while correct score options are 3-0 (13-2) and 4-0 (15-2).
There aren't many first-scorer prices about but consider Scott Arfield who netted a double against Bury. He is 7-1 at William Hill while Alfredo Morelos is 11-4 favourite.
Hibs are also in action as they entertain Faroes side NSI Runavik. Neil Lennon has Euro experience of beating Barcelona while at Celtic and should safely guide his side through.
Hibs are as short as Rangers at 1-12 with their opponents again 28-1 at McBookie. So again consider Hibs on the handicaps with -2 paying not bad at 10-11 with Paddy Power.
Florian Kamberi, who made his loan deal permanent in the summer, should be a great capture for Lenny and I'm on him to score first at 13-5 with Paddy Power.
Daily Double
- Rangers to win to nil
- Hibs -1
- (13-10, McBookie)
First Scorers
- Arfield (Rangers)
- (7-1, William Hill)
- Kamberi (Hibs)
- (13-5, Paddy Power)
Kamberi 13/5 1st goal paddy power and 1/2 anytime
Bit early for us yet as still got a few players to come in
Of odds are available I would be looking at a red card in the game, we have Lithuanian referee Manfredas Lukjancukas in charge and he loves cards, one Europa league qualifier, 2x u21 internationals, 2x u19 euro qualifiers and 2x youth league games, in those 7 games he showed 6 reds and 34 yellows
