ON Sunday I carried out an experiment by picking a both teams to score fourfold based on last season's stats.

It worked well with and I'll be looking at the formula again but for Thursday's Europa League games I'm not sure if it would work.

So it's back to looking at recent results, studying team news and form.

I'm starting the fourfold with Hannover v Standard Liege. The Germans have scored in their last six bar the weekend defeat in Stuttgart and netted in both legs of their play-off as they handed Sevilla a shock KO.

Standard have bagged eight in their last four games and won both legs of their qualifer against Helsingborgs. This pays 4-6 with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and bet365.

Next it's PSV v Legia Warsaw. The Dutch side are hot favourites to win at home but there are question marks over their defence.

PSV's last two games have featured 13 goals, including a 3-3 draw away to VV Venlo. They hammered Ried 5-0 in the last round but Legia are a better side who counter-attack superbly.

The Poles stunned Spartak Moscow in the play-offs with a 3-2 extra-time win in Russia after drawing 2-2 at home. They have netted 13 goals in their last six matches. Try this at 1-1 at Ladbrokes.

My third choice is Austria Vienna v Metalist. The Austrians have scored 10 goals in their last three homes games while tough Ukrainians Metalist have hit nine in their last three.

They battered Sochaux 4-0 away in the last round and won 2-1 at Karpaty at the weekend so can score on the road. Take both teams to net at 5-6 with bet365, Ladbrokes and Stan James.

Finally, complete the fourfold with Steaua v Schalke. The Romanians have won their last three home games by scoring exactly two goals while Schalke are a bit of an enigma.

They looked on their way out after losing 2-0 away to Helsinki but turned it round with a 6-1 home success.

That result will have lifted confidence and they also won 4-2 at Mainz in the Bundesliga. Both sides should score at a best 4-5 with Skybet and Stan James.

Both teams to score

Hannover v Standard Liege (ko 6pm)

PSV v Legia Warsaw (ko 6pm)

Austria Vienna v Metalist (ko 8.05pm)

Steaua v Schalke (ko 8.05pm)

Bologna didn’t score. It was 2-0 Fiorentina.

Shouldn’t have listened to Tony. As I said earlier I’d added Bilbao to my line so didn’t bother too much about checking the rest until Tony said the line was up.
