PADDY POWER have banished the January blues for Scottish football fans by paying out nearly £40,000 on Queen of the South and Rangers winning the Second and Third Divisions respectively.
Queens have won 18 of 21 games and won't be caught while Rangers are 19 points clear – so there's no chance of either decision coming back to haunt the Irish bookies.
Rangers, who have lost once in the league, are 1-1 to avoid defeat in the rest of their league campaign, while those from the blue half of Glasgow may wish to take the 8-1 on offer that they win the rest of their Third Division fixtures.
In recent weeks league restructuring plans have dominated the Scottish football news agenda with Rangers vocal in opposition to proposed changes. Those who fear angers will up sticks and leave Scottish football altogether by the start of the 2013-14 season can take 25-1 with Paddy Power.
A Paddy Power spokesman said “Once Queen of the South took the reins at the top they’ve not let go. We see no chance of Queens or Rangers choking at this stage and so we’re paying out this January, although it will be us choking in May if either team lets it slip!”
