Heavyweight veterans Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder return to the ring for a special night of boxing at the O2 Arena in London, as this will be the 50th professional bout for both fighters.
Almost a year has passed since either of them fought, and both are years past their prime, but there’s no doubt that we’re in for a great night and a real battle between two giants of modern boxing history.
Scroll down for our detailed analysis and predictions for the boxing highlight of the week.
Derek Chisora vs. Deontay Wilder: Tale of the tape
Derek Chisora keys to victory
Although they have fought the same number of bouts, Chisora’s career is undoubtedly less impressive than his opponent’s, even though he has also fought for a world title twice. The difference is that Wilder has actually won one.
Chisora must be aware that his opponent is faster and has a harder punch, so we expect a lot of clinching and physical pressure from him.
Any tactician knows that this cannot be a winning strategy against a boxer like Wilder, so Chisora will have to rely on blind overhand right punches through Wilder’s constant jabs, hoping that one will land cleanly.
Deontay Wilder keys to victory
Just a few years ago, Deontay Wilder was at the top of the boxing world, but he also faced Tyson Fury at the peak of his powers, and everything went downhill from there. Wilder has lost four of his last six professional fights, but he won his most recent bout in June 2025.
We’re unlikely to see anything new from Weider, who will most likely rely on his solid jab to control the distance and wait for the right moment.
The key is for him to find that moment so he can land one of his signature hooks, which have knocked out dozens of opponents over the years. We mustn’t forget that Wider has 43 knockouts in 44 wins, but we also mustn’t forget that he is now 40 years old.
He is certainly the more agile and athletic fighter, even at this age, and this gives him a slight edge. In recent years, we’ve also noticed a shift in his standard strategy of dominating opponents from the opening seconds. He now fights more selectively, trying to wear them down rather than seeking a fast knockout.
Chisora vs. Wilder prediction: Del Boy with a late stoppage
Chisora has been written off numerous times, but he's consistently proven he's still competitive at a high level. After his defeat to Fury, the British veteran has rebounded with a three-fight winning streak, all within a respectable distance – 10 to 12 rounds.
Wilder, on the other hand, has been in a steep decline in recent years. He hasn't had a truly significant victory in several years. Under these circumstances, it's increasingly difficult to predict what form the American will be in.
He still has his fundamentally powerful punch, but will he have any other trump cards? After all, he'll be facing a rather cunning opponent.
If the Englishman holds off Wilder's initial onslaught, he'll have an excellent chance to wear down his opponent, stymie him, and even secure a stoppage victory in the second half.
At the same time, Wilder could potentially work his way to a decision victory by way of a hundred jabs and hooks, but it is not something we would bet on.
All in all, we expect this fight to end at some point in its final third, so our primary pick is Over 7.5. And as a secondary option for lower stakes, we'll back Derek Chisora via KO/TKO or DQ.
Top bets of the night
- Over 7.5 rounds – 7/10
- Derek Chisora via KO/TKO or DQ – 27/20
