Australian Open betting tips and predictions

Day 13 of the Australian Open is men’s semi-final day, with only four players remaining in Melbourne. There are some interesting matchups, with young American Ben Shelton taking on top seed Jannik Sinner, while 10-time champion Novak Djokovic takes on the No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev. Read on for our tennis betting tips on each of these matches this Friday.

Best Australian Open betting tips for day 13

Sinner vs Shelton under 3.5 sets @ 4/6

Nobody has played as impressively and as consistently this year at the Australian Open as Sinner. He has simply cracked the code and is storming past everybody without any kind of problems.

Shelton is a fine player. He has a good serve and does play aggressively, but he is not on the level of Sinner when it comes to baseline play. There is also no chance for him to outplay the Italian over the course of a set in the rallies, and that’s why we’re backing the under here.

The American’s serve should carry him to some close sets, but much like in the past four matches they played, he won’t win them. He’s lost four matches in a row to Sinner, and he didn’t win a single set in any of those, and that’s likely to continue here as well.

Sinner vs Shelton under 38.5 games @ 3/6

This bet is essentially the same bet as the one above, just with a higher chance of hitting and slightly lower odds. Why are we backing it, though? Well, for the same reason we’re backing the one above—it's just a good bet.

The good thing about this line is that the under is going to go through even if we see two tiebreaks. So a 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 win for Sinner would still go under this line, and we have to take it. Sinner is just too good right now.

Zverev vs Djokovic over 35.5 games @ 3/6

We're going to go a bit different here mostly because this is a matchup that is much closer than the one above. It's tough to pick who will win because either player can get through on their day, but neither will likely win in straight sets. They generally play very close sets when they face each other and that's likely to continue here.

Djokovic might just settle for trying to win in tiebreaks, but overall we should see the over on this line because we're likely to see four sets. If four sets happen, the over is all-but certain to hit, so that's why we're backing it.
