After an eventful day six at the Africa Cup of Nations, fans and punters alike will be looking to see what day seven has in store.
Group D served up a five-goal thriller as Nigeria and Tunisia played out the highest-scoring game of the tournament so far, while the other fixture in the group ended all square, with Tanzania and Uganda sharing the spoils.
Elsewhere, the Republic of Benin boosted their qualification hopes with a crucial win over Botswana, while there was no separating Senegal and DR Congo in the group’s other contest, as the two sides battling for top spot settled for a 1–1 draw.
Another four intriguing encounters lie ahead on day seven, and MRFixtips has identified the most reliable betting angles worth considering.
Gabon vs Mozambique: Sunday, December 28 – 12:30
Both teams will be looking for their first point of the tournament following narrow 1–0 defeats in their opening Group F fixtures. Gabon fell to Cameroon, while Mozambique were beaten by Ivory Coast.
The Panthers have now lost two matches in a row, including an extra-time defeat to Nigeria in the World Cup qualification playoffs, a sharp contrast to their previous five outings, where they remained unbeaten and won four times.
Facing a Mozambique side that have lost three of their last four games (D1) gives Gabon some cause for optimism, particularly as they have won three of the last five meetings against the same opponents (D1, L1).
A double chance on Gabon seems a safe option, complemented by the goal market, as each of the last four meetings has seen under 2.5 goals.
Recommended bet:
- Gabon 1X and under 2.5 goals – 4/5 (Betano)
Equatorial Guinea vs Sudan: Sunday, December 28 – 15:00
The second game of the day sees two sides who lost their openers battle to keep their hopes alive in Group E.
Equatorial Guinea will be the more disappointed after their spirited effort against Burkina Faso, having played much of the second half with 10 men following a sending off in the 50th minute. They did find the net, only to concede twice in stoppage time.
The Red Devils have now lost back-to-back matches and have won just one of their last five appearances.
Sudan, meanwhile, suffered a routine 3–0 defeat to Algeria, marking seven losses in their last 11 games in regulation and going without finding the net in nine of those.
Equatorial Guinea hold the upper hand in this fixture, having won both previous encounters against Sudan, and they are expected to edge another positive result.
Recommended bet:
- Equatorial Guinea 1X and under 3.5 – 13/25 (Betano)
Algeria vs Burkina Faso: Sunday, December 28 – 17:30
The winners of their respective Group E openers clash for top spot. Algeria are among the tournament favourites, though past head-to-head meetings suggest a close contest.
The Desert Warriors have won seven of their previous 19 games against Burkina Faso, who have claimed six victories, with the remaining six ending in draws.
Algeria enter this encounter on the back of eight wins in their last 11 matches, all recording two or more goals, while Burkina Faso have won six of their last seven, netting at least twice in five of those victories.
Recommended bet:
- Algeria or Burkina Faso and over 1.5 goals – 9/10 (Betano)
Ivory Coast vs Cameroon: Sunday, December 28 – 20:00
Ivory Coast and Cameroon fight for Group F’s top spot following wins in their respective opening fixtures.
The Elephants have won six of their last eight matches (D1, L1), while the Indomitable Lions have claimed two victories in their last five games (D1, L2).
Ivory Coast also hold a slight edge in recent head-to-heads, winning three of the last four, although Cameroon have claimed six of the 10 previous encounters in AFCON qualifying or finals (W3, D1).
None of Ivory Coast’s last 13 games since December 2024 have seen both teams score, while in five of Cameroon’s last six internationals, not more than one side has found the net, with the last five of those matches finishing under 2.5 goals.
Recommended bet:
- Under 2.5 goals – 4/9 (Ladbrokes)
