THE honour of the final counting event for the Ryder Cup goes to the Made in Denmark tournament at the Backtee New Course, Himmerland, in Aalborg.
This is the third year of this tourney and has become a firm favourite with the players and especially this time with Ryder Cup points available.
The rough can be quite penal in places so accuracy off the tee is going to be quite important. The course is quite exposed and has a linksy feel to it and can get quite windy so hopefully the North Sea wind won’t blow too hard.
For my pick here it has to be Martin Kaymer. The odds are on him being a Darren Clarke pick and he will be out to prove he should be at Hazeltine.
With seven finishes in the top 15 in his last nine outings, including five top 10s, Kaymer is certainly showing good form. His driving accuracy stat is 58.9% and his approach play is solid which will come in useful on this course. He finished strongly with a 66 in the Olympics and I expect him to put in a solid display this week.
