THERE are no Premiership fixtures today so the focus is on the lower leagues and Petrofac Training Cup semi-final.

Queen’s Park v Peterhead at Hampden could claim to be match of the day in Scotland with Rangers or St Mirren awaiting the winners.

Peterhead striker Rory McAllister could be the difference between the teams. The ex-Inverness striker has 17 goals in 17 games including five at Falkirk in an earlier round.

McAllister would be playing at a higher level if it wasn’t for choosing a career as a plumber so he could fall back on soemthing after football – and I’m on him to end Queen’s pipe dream. He is 31-40 with McBookie to score and 31-10 to net first.

There’s a full division between the sides and Peterhead are in better form so look a decent bet at 1-1 with McBookie and William Hill and that's one of my Super Singles. They’ve won on five of their last six visits to Queen’s – the other finished 0-0.

The aggregate scores of the last four between the sides at Hampden are Queen’s 0, Peterhead 11 so that shows how tough a task the underdogs face.

Queen’s are 14-5 at Skybet but their only win in five was against Stirling University in the Scottish Cup so they’ll need manager Gus MacPherson, who won the trophy with St Mirren, to rally his troops.

There are two games in the Championship – Falkirk v Alloa and Morton v Queen of the South – and both could be home wins. Falkirk are in decent nick and have won three in a row scoring, 10 goals since losing to Hibs. Alloa were thumped at Ibrox last week and have lost four in a row.

The Bairns are no bigger than 4-9 with bet365 and McBookie but having won their last two homes matches 5-0 and 3-0 against Dumbarton and St Mirren I have to fancy them minus one at 20-23 with Coral. Falkirk minus two has a chance at 7-2 with Paddy Power.

Morton ended Livingston’s mini revival last week with a 1-0 win at Cappielow and are unbeaten in four. They have a poor home record v Queens having won just one of the last nine. That’s a concern so with four of the last five seeing both to score go for that at 4-7 with Ladbrokes.

In League One the biggest surprise in the past two weeks has been Dunfermline’s back-to-back 0-0 draws. A third consecutive game with no scorer pays 10-1 at McBookie but surely that can’t happen again. Five of the last six meetings at New Broomfield have gone over 2.5 goals so take it at 29-40 (bet365).

Stenhousemuir followed a 4-3 defeat of Peterhead by winning at Stranraer and are 1-1 with Ladbrokes to make it three in a row against a side without a victory in six.

In League Two stats suggest both will score at Annan v Berwick with the last 10 clashes producing 42 goals – 27 going to Annan who are 3-4 at BetBright to bounce back from last week’s loss at Elgin.

All Scottish team news has been posted on the forum so check it out – and beware there could be postponements due to the adverse weather.
