ABERDEEN lost their unbeaten league record in the Premiership at the weekend, but that setback was nothing compared to opponents Hibs, who they face on Tuesday.
David Gray's job is surely hanging by the flimsiest of threads after a 4-1 hammering at Dundee on Saturday night. In fairness, they were actually playing well until Jordan Obita was sent off and they completely collapsed after that. It was damage limitation in the second half.
It leaves Hibs still rock bottom of the Premiership after a quite disgraceful one league win in 13. They are slightly better at Easter Road with a win and three draws out of the seven games they've played in Leith.
Aberdeen went down to St Mirren at snow-covered Paisley and that was a real disappointment to Dons fans.
Despite the visitors dominating most of the possession, they actually created very little and lost two desperately poor goals which may jolt their confidence.
Perhaps it was a reality check and everything so far indicates manager Jimmy Thelin is a quick learner and he will need to get it sorted for their trip to the capital.
He has assembled a strong squad though and may mix it up.
How the bookies view it: Dons surprising underdogs in Leith.
Given Hibs' dismal campaign so far it's a major surprise that the hosts are favourites at 13/10 with bet365. Aberdeen are as big as 2/1 with William Hill. The draw is 5/2 with bet365.
Recent head to heads: First showdown this season
This is their first meeting last season. Aberdeen ended a six-game streak without a win at Easter Road in May with a 4-0 hammering of Hibs.
Players to watch: McGrath in form
Martin Boyle will be hoping to impress against his hometown club on Tuesday. He is 5/2 to score anytime with bet365.
Jamie McGrath is arguably Aberdeen's key man this season and the midfielder netted another goal at the weekend at his former club St Mirren. He is 9/2 to score anytime with bet365.
Predicted line-ups
Hibs striker Hibs striker Mykola Kuharevich returns from suspension but they will be missing Kieron Bowie and Jordan Obita after his red card.
Aberdeen are only without injured top scorer Papa Gueye.
Hibs: Bursik, C Cadden, Ekpiteta, O'Hora, N Cadden, Kwon, Newell, Triantis, Boyle, Kuharevich, Hoilett.
Aberdeen: Mitov, Devlin, Rubezic, Molloy, MacKenzie, Shinnie, Nilsen, Keskinen, Duk, McGrath, Nisbet.
Anything else catch the eye?
Aberdeen may have lost their long unbeaten run, but they look massively overpriced to win at a Hibs side whose confidence must be at an all-time low.
They are incredibly fragile and are not helped by a goalkeeper who looks a bag of nerves which is probably caused by the defenders in front of him. Additionally, they are playing in front of decidedly unimpressed fans who won't be slow in letting their views be known if it starts going wrong.
The Dons struggled to match St Mirren's physicality and direct approach on Saturday and Hibs have the players in their squad to at least score.
But it's unlikely to be enough and not only is the Dons win at 2/1 a big price, but an away win and both teams to score at 9/2 with Paddy Power is begging to be backed.
