Best tennis tips and predictions today
In the first match, we have Jannik Sinner taking on Tomas Machac, who just ousted Carlos Alcaraz. We’re going to back a close matchup here, considering how well the Czech player has played.
In the second one, we have Novak Djokovic taking on Taylor Fritz for the 10th time. We’re also going to predict a tight match here, even though the American hasn’t had the best time against Djokovic in the past.
Sinner vs Machac – over 21.5 games @ 5/6
On the surface, this reads like a matchup where Sinner will absolutely run away with it. He’s the far better player overall and, more importantly, the more consistent hitter.
As amazing as Machac can play on a given day, it’s quite unlikely that he’s going to be able to keep a high level against Sinner for the duration of the match.
However, we think he might because this does seem like a week where Machac has been overachieving quite a bit. He might not win the match, but Sinner hasn’t had the cleanest week either.
Sinner can struggle a bit when pushed by a tremendous power hitter such as Machac, especially when the Czech is playing close to his best, as he has been this week.
The over seems rather likely because Sinner might even drop a set here. Beating Alcaraz would give Machac plenty of confidence, and if he finds his best tennis here, it might be a very close match.
We still think Sinner will win in three sets, but overall, that should cover the games line, which is why we’re backing that as the safest option.
Djokovic vs Fritz – over 21.5 games @ 5/6
Fritz has never beaten Djokovic before, even though he has faced him nine times so far. It’s not been the best matchup for him, but we still like him to keep it very close this Saturday.
For one, the conditions here will allow him more time on the ball, which he enjoys. He’s also been serving well the entire week, which he’ll need if he hopes to have any kind of chance against Djokovic.
As good as Djokovic has looked so far in Shanghai, he’s still shown himself to be more vulnerable than ever this year, and we haven’t forgotten that.
Fritz has shown himself to be capable of keeping this matchup close at times, even though he’s never beaten him.
That 9-0 head-to-head will certainly be added motivation for the American as well. He might not win in the end, but keeping it tight and possibly forcing a third set is not impossible. If Mensik could do it, then so can Fritz.
