Another day on the ATP Tour brings us more exciting matches, and we have the best tennis betting tips after scanning what’s out there at the Shanghai Masters. Read on to see the action we recommend betting on this Friday.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
In our first prediction, we’re backing native player Yibing Wu to take out Nicolas Jarry. It’s a bit of a risky play, but we’ll explain below why it’s a smart pick. In the other match, we’re going to back Thiago Seyboth Wild to give Daniil Medvedev some trouble.
Wu to defeat Jarry @ 1/1
Nicolas Jarry hasn’t played super well this year, and even lately, he hasn’t looked that great. The conditions in Shanghai are such that he won’t hate them, but overall it hasn’t looked that great for him.
Wu hasn’t played much tennis this year either, but that’s mostly because he was injured. Back when he played a lot of tennis, he was winning sets against Medvedev at the US Open. That’s the type of player he can be.
Now, while his form lately hasn’t been all that special and health issues are always a concern, the Chinese player is playing at home. He’s competing in a Masters event, so if he’s ever going to be motivated, it’s for this event.
His skill set is good enough to win. He has a good serve and solid forehand. Jarry has those weapons as well, but he’s looked somewhat shaky this year.
This is mostly a play on feeling, but backing the native player to create a minor upset is a strategy that often cashes out, and with the odds being what they are, we like it.
Medvedev vs Seyboth Wild – over 19.5 games @ 5/6
The last time these two players faced each other, it was a match where Seyboth Wild pulled off a shocking upset. It happened at the 2022 Roland Garros, with the Brazilian winning in three sets.
He’s a very tricky player when his forehand is firing because it's one of the most devastating in all of tennis. He is generally a very aggressive player who likes to attack, and that will work in Shanghai.
Medvedev does tend to sit back and allow you to play that way, and with the somewhat slower courts in Shanghai this year, that could be dangerous.
We don’t think Seyboth Wild will win the match, but he can make it interesting, and with the line only being 19.5, that’s not much to cover.
The match could be pretty close, with lots of tiebreaks, so it’s not unthinkable. Overall, with the odds and circumstances, it seems like a good thing to back.
Nice work! Thank you. Added Sabalenka over 21.5 for a treble.
