Open de France betting tips

The DP World Tour continues this week with a return to Wentworth for one of the biggest non-major golf tournaments of the years at the BMW PGA Championship.

For European golfers, this tournament is one of the biggest on the circuit which explains why a stacked field featuring most of Europe's best golfers are set to tee it up this week around the par-72 course in Surrey, England.

Last year, Australia's Ryan Fox pipped Tyrell Hatton and Aaron Rai to the championship while two years ago, Shane Lowry came out on top after shooting -17 over his four rounds.

The last Englishman to win on home soil here was Tyrell Hatton back in 2020. The 32-year-old won't be adding another BMW PGA Championship to his resume this week due to his switch to LIV Golf at the beginning of this year.

Although Hatton and his LIV teammate, Jon Rahm, are notable absentees this week there are still plenty of top European players teeing it up, including Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy. There are also a handful of American players taking part, including Billy Horschel.

Ahead for the first tee shot being struck tomorrow morning, check out our BMW PGA Championship betting tips below.

BMW PGA Championship betting tips

Shane Lowry (Eight places) – 12/1

Shane Lowry has had a mixed 2024 but there is reason to believe that the Irishman is in line for a good week at Wentworth. Lowry has played predominantly on the PGA Tour this season has although he hasn't won, he has recorded six top-ten finishes.

Out of those top-ten finishes, two were in major championships, one was at the season-ending Tour Championship and two were at signature events. This illustrates that Lowry is certainly a man for a big occasion and there aren't many bigger occasions on the European Tour than this week at the BMW PGA Championship.

Lowry has form at Wentworth, too, which suggests this is a golf course that suits his game. He was the winner two years ago and he finished as the runner-up back in 2014.

Aaron Rai (Eight places) – 16/1

Aaron Rai has had his best season since turning professional and he capped it off last month with his first-ever PGA Tour victory at the Wyndham Championship. Rai's win was from a fluke and he has also competed well on British soil this year, finishing in a tie for fourth at the Genesis Scottish Open in July.

Rai also performed well for three rounds at the Irish Open last week before fading away on Sunday but he remains in good form and will be a threat around a course that suits his game.

Wentworth is more about accuracy rather than distance with only one of the par fives accessible in two shots and much of the course covered by trees. Accuracy and consistency are what Rai has been about this year, ranking 5th on the PGA Tour for greens in regulation percentage and 1st for driving accuracy.

Justin Rose (Eight places) – 30/1

Justin Rose may no longer be a man that will be in contention each and every week on tour but he is still more than capable of producing the goods when it matters. The experienced Englishman has proven this year that he can still turn it on for the biggest events, finishing in a tie for sixth at the PGA Championship and in a tie for 2nd at the Open.

There are also many players in the field who know Wentworth better than the 44-year-old. Rose has played in this tournament on 18 occasions and has finished inside the top ten in five of those. His best finishes came in 2007 and 2012 when he finished in second place.
