England vs France

, KO: 19:00 Dec 10, 2022, Al-Bayt Stadium
France

A mouthwatering World Cup quarter-final showdown takes place on Saturday night, as England and France face off at the Al-Bayt Stadium.

Football fever is slowly but surely beginning to grip the English nation following the Three Lions' 3-0 stroll to victory over Senegal on Sunday night.

That triumph coupled with nine strikes en-route to claiming top honours in Group B has left England daring to dream of lifting a first major trophy since 1966.

Next up for Gareth Southgate's side, amid soaring expectations, is a quarter-final clash with current World Cup holders France.

Having qualified from Group D with a game to spare, Didier Deschamps' team became the first defending champions to make it out of the group stage since Brazil in 2006.

France's reward for doing so was a last-16 date against Poland, with Les Bleus putting the poles to the sword with ease in a 3-1 success, in a game which brought up both of my bets.

Outright Betting

Despite not tasting defeat in a major knockout match inside 90 minutes since 2016, England enter this encounter as 39/20 outsiders with Highbet.

France, who have fallen to defeat in just one of their last eight eight encounters with England, are the 33/25 (Highbet) favourites while the draw in normal time has been priced up at 21/10 (Highbet).

Betting Angles

While many are anticipating a cagey quarter-final clash between these two heavyweights, it may pay to go against the grain and back Both Teams to Score at 5/6 with SBK.

Although the French squad is packed with star power, Didier Deschamps' defence have found clean sheets hard to come across in recent times.

Not only have Les Bleus conceded in each of their four outings at Qatar thus far, but their backline has been breached in nine of their last 10 competitive contests, which doesn't bode well ahead of what should be a stern test from free-scoring England.

Gareth Southgate's Lions are the top scorers at this year's showpiece thus far having slammed in 12 strikes and they are certainly capable of carving out scoring opportunities against a fragile France side.

That being said, this will undoubtedly be England's toughest examination of the tournament to date and they could struggle to tame a French team that have hit the back of the net in  27 of their last 30 outings across all competitions.

With this in mind, as well as the fact that BTTS has banked in three of France's four World Cup 2022 matches so far, backing each to oblige here holds appeal at 5/6 with SBK.

Given that Kylian Mbappe has lit up the world stage for the second time in a row, I'll also back France's golden boy To Score Or Assist at 11/10 with PaddyPower.

Mbappe has racked up a tournament-best five goals in Qatar after just three starts, and he's also chipped in with two assists, so the 11/10 (PaddyPower) on him to add to that tally here looks enticing.

This match between England and France will be played on Dec 10, 2022 and kick off at 19:00. Check below for our tipsters best England vs France prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
