BE PROUD (5.20) should have been freshened up by a three weeks break and makes plenty of appeal at decent odds at Newcastle.
Jim Goldie’s gelding needs a strong pace to attack over this minimum distance and he got that when scooting more than four lengths clear over course and distance last month. Be Proud was turned out again over six furlongs just five days later and ran a bit flat. Mr Greenlight showed good early speed from the widest draw at Musselburgh last week, going down by a neck, and he should ensure a strong gallop on his first experience in public of a synthetic surface. Course and distance winner Swiss Connections looks sure to go well but Be Proud looks a cast-iron ew bet.
At Yarmouth, MATEWAN (3.25) is a worthy top weight after beating subsequent winner Deinonychus at Ripon in early August (good to soft). Ian Williams has given his four-year-old a nice break and if Matewan is fully wound up he should take the measure of Lord Halifax, making his first handicap start off a tempting mark.
CATCH MY BREATH (4.00) has run two good races at Musselburgh lately, both over nine furlongs, and should cope with the forecast soft ground. John Ryan’s gelding backed up a course victory in August with a solid fourth to Luna Magic eight days ago and if all 16 runners stand their ground Catch My Breath will be very hard to knock out of the frame.

Saturday’s group 1 futurity stakes at Doncaster has an interesting field.

Bonkers or what !!
Very early one for tomorrow, been waiting for first show of betting HILLS going 5’S.
5.20 N Light The Fuse 5/1. Hails from a stable in flying form. Enjoyed the return to 7f at Yarmouth 9 days ago. Has plenty of experience which he put to good use last time out, leading inside the final furlong was caught close home and denied by a short-head. Could be primed to strike off the same mark.
4.10 N Sufficient 11/2 Progressed on her last few outing over the summer months. Over came trouble in-running to score at Newbury and can gain her 3rd victory in 4 starts. Despite a 95-day absence, this is not a worry, she goes well fresh and acts on any going.
when you says goes well fresh.. the horse raced at least once a month for 4 months straight prior to a 43 day break, after which he gained his first win.
his only substantial break was over the winter when coming back from 219 days. it was over the CD of his then sole win, he finished over 5 lengths back in 4th carrying effectively bottom weight. 6 other horses in that race were coming back from a break of at least 180 days also.
so not entirely sure it is the main selling point of the horse.
going further, TUDHOPE is on him for the first time, sporting life lists the trainers runs back to mid august and none of his winners have had Danny on board. QUINN and MURPHY won on his the last two times, neither have any rides tomorrow hwilst CROWLEY used to ride the horse, is at the track, but isnt on.
the horse won lto by a nose and is up a further 4lbs, there isn’t really any inspiring form from his last two wins but 2 starts back he was 1 length behind a horse who won a class 1 next time out.
hope the horse wins for you, just more info for the page
serve himself reet if the others horse won elvis spoils racing that bloke
