Racing tips: Zuri to zip in at Epsom

ASHAZURI (8.15) can bounce back to winning ways at Epsom this evening. She appeared to be intimidated down on the rail here a fortnight ago but stayed on into third place behind Mr Scaramanga and Allegiant (runs 7.10). With  a 7lb apprentice taking over the reins Ashazuri is nicely weighted and a dry weather forecast should ensure the quick ground she enjoys (won Sandown good to firm in May). Likely favourite Peace Prevails scored on the same Epsom card two weeks ago but this is a bit harder.

LOCH NESS MONSTER (2.40) is narrowly preferred to Harvey Dent in the 1m 1f handicap at Hamilton. He faded over 1m 3f at Kempton last time but had earlier posted a fine fifth to History Writer at Sandown over a shorter trip. He had Harvey Dent a length and a half behind in fourth when chasing home Oasis Prince at Haydock earlier in the season and is now 5lb better off.

Archie Watson, who could have the winner of the opener with well-supported Point Of Order, saddles Harvey Dent, still improving steadily judged on his excellent Chester second five days ago. He didn’t appear to get home over a mile here last month when fifth to Southern Rock, so this extra furlong is little disconcerting.

BRONZE BEAU (2.10) is a course specialist and looks sure to be involved in the finish on the back of his Yarmouth second at the beginning of July. The veteran likes to blaze a trail and may have the legs of likely favourite Arnold, a head second to Decision Maker at Newcastle when last seen.xx

The Irish are continuing to plunder Scottish handicaps and Bellepower, beaten a nose at Naas, has been well supported to land the Class 6 1m 1f handicap for John Feane. Tudhope has been booked so they mean business. Having missed the price I’m inclined to look elsewhere and DUTCH COED (3.10) fits the bill as an each-way alternative around 5-1. Nigel Tinkler is another yard in rattling form and Dutch Coed is on a hat-trick following victories at Carlisle and Beverley, two similar tracks to Hamilton with uphill finishes.

Remember Rocky, so consistent at Ayr, will welcome any more rain, while Greengage’s second to Neileta at Ayr 11 days makes her competitive.

Alistair Whillans endured a rather long and frustrating spell on the cold list but is back in business, and CORKED (4.40) should go well at an each-way price. She has been dropped 2lb for finishing sixth at Musselburgh and a repeat of her earlier run at Chester when sixth to Eponina in a Class 4 handicap would put Corked in the mix. Some firms are offering four places, so the 8-1 (best price guaranteed) should be taken.

At Chepstow, PADDY THE CHEF (5.05) is worth an each-way interest if all eight come under orders. He had no chance against very smart Faylaq at Newmarket (fifth) but fourth horse The Corporal scored quite decisively at Yarmouth last night. Paddy The Chef is 10lb lower than when winning over 1m 2f on quick ground at Nottingham last July and Edward Greatrex takes off 3lb. Odds of 8-1 are tempting.
