Burnley v Newcastle
Monday, November 26, KO 8pm. Live on Sky Sports Premier League
Newcastle must be the most frustrating team in the world to support but there are signs of optimism.
Supporters give their all but owners don't and that's resulted in a major domestic trophy drought of 63 years.
Last season they finished 10th then held on to Rafael Benitez and are on the move again after a sluggish start.
Back-to-back wins against Bournemouth and Watford have lifted them to 15th and they are targeting three in a row at Turf Moor.
They are locked on nine points with Crystal Palace and tonight's opponents who have gone five without a win.
Burnley over-achieved last season by qualifying for the Europa League and their small squad couldn't handle playing in the tournament at the start of the season and went 11 without a victory.
Newcastle will be looking to kick on and while backing them to win at a best 9-5 with Betfred is difficult they should avoid defeat – in fact a low-scoring draw would surprise no one.
For Newcastle not to lose you can have 4-7 at Marathonbet while draw no bet pays 10-11 at Betfred.
Burnley are underdogs at 2-1 with bet365 and that's reflected by the fact they've conceded 25 goals and could be without England defender James Tarkowski.
Sean Dyche has the third worst defence in the Premier League behind promoted pair Fulham and Cardiff and that must concern the manager.
But his men are facing a side who have scored just nine and three on their travels so don't expect a goalfest.
They have drawn three times away – all 0-0 – and tonight no scorer pays 7-1 at Betfred. Two meetings at Turf Moor have finished 1-0 and 1-1 and under 2.5 goals pays 8-13 at McBookie.
A draw has a chance at 28-13 with Unibet while a 1-1 draw is 11-2 at McBookie.
Recommended Bets
- Newcastle draw no bet (10-11, Betfred)

- Under 2.5 goals (8-13, McBookie)
Under 2.5
I can understand the logic behind these picks, Tarkowski in particular would usually be a huge blow for any league fixture but I feel his deputy in this one 6 foot 4 Kevin long is better equipped to deal with the threat of Salamon Rondon in this fixture. We have recently welcomed back Belgian Steven Defour back to the first team, he is certainly the best passer of the ball we have in midfield and possesses the calmness and quality to keep possession and provide precise passing in midfield whilst other typically utilise the long ball. He will be key for us tonight, there is no way the clarets should be outsiders tonight and upwards of 2/1 is real value for us to win and we are on the drift so im gonna wait to nearer kick off time to place my couple of bets. I dont expect Newcastle to pose much of a threat to ourselves tonight, even less so if Shelvey isnt in the lineup, I beleive he is rated 50/50 for this one and I expect us to shorten if team news arrives without his inclusion. I think the reason for the huge pricing is due to our participation in Europa and tbf we have had some difficult contests since and the players were short on confidence on the back of this in late august. Were coming into this off the back of a positive result at the King Power and Hoping for a performance reminiscent of the 4-0 mauling of Bournemouth in September and I expect us to create a good number of opportunities tonight to pick up a much needed win. We do possess a strong h2h record in this and remember this fixture this time last year quite well when we came out victors courtesy of a late Hendrick goal which we fully deserved, expect a similar type of game again which wont be pretty and not a very good watch for the neutrals but I fully expect us to edge it.
