THERE are seven Irn-Bru Challenge Cup ties today and while some look good on paper many sides will rest players.

The live TV offerings in the Irn-Bru feature sides who have never met competitively – TNS v Elgin and Dundee United v Linfield.

Poor Elgin face a 450-mile trip to Oswestry to face the Welsh champions who are 3-10 with William Hill and bet365.

TNS reached the last four a year ago and should be too strong for a side who have just lost boss Jim Weir to Forfar. Over 2.5 TNS goals at evens with bet365 is a good shout.

Championship title favourites and holders United are back on track after last week's impressive win at Dunfermline but boss Ray McKinnon says he'll rotate his squad don't expect to see too many first-teamers start.

Northern Irish champions Linfield were beaten by Queen of the South last year so United are justifiable favourites at 13-20 with bet365 and the visitors' boss David Healy has also stated this is not a priority for his men.

Championship leaders St Mirren reached the Final last season and should make the last eight at the expense of Raith. The Buddies are 3-5 at McBookie but again will be without several players including star man Lewis Morgan who was on Scotland Under-21 duty on Friday.

Crusaders also face a marathon trek to face Cove Rangers although the game is in Forfar and the Irish side have flown to Scotland. Theyare 6-10 at Marathonbet and should see off the Highland League side.

Dunfermline travel to Falkirk and if they play a full-strength side a best price of 2-1 with bet365 looks big. The Pars draw no bet is 31-25 with Marathonbet. New Bairns boss Paul Hartley will watch the match before taking the reins next week.

The other ties see Championship sides take on League Two outfits. Inverness are at home to dangerous opponents Peterhead while Queen of the South have sent a strong squad to League Two Montrose.
