Scottish First Scorer Tips & Contest: Win up to £20

Hearts_Lafferty

McBOOKIE.COM are the only online bookie listing first-scorer tips for all SPFL games and once again we’ve teamed up with the Scots firm to look at some of the best bets from the lower leagues.

And if you leave your choice of first scorer as a comment at the end of this article or email your selection to [email protected] you will have a chance to win a £20 free bet with McBookie.com.

One person with a correct prediction will be picked at random to scoop a £10 free bet. But if you have backed your player with at least a fiver at McBookie.com your prize will be doubled.

Last week there were several winners and picked at random was Andy Steele of Cumbernauld who backed Rangers’ Graham Dorrans at 8-1. Email [email protected] with your username and I’ll arrange for your account to be credited with £10 or £20.

Meanwhile, here is McBookie.com’s Damian Walker with his Saturday selections.

Damian writes: “All three teams I tipped up last week won for a 12-1 treble (including 3-1 Stirling) but sadly two of the strikers didn’t play and the other failed to score first.

“So given the whole point of the column is finding first scorers it wasn’t an entirely successful effort despite being right with the match outcomes.

“One of the teams I tipped up last were League Two title favourites Peterhead who scrambled home with two late goals to nick the points at Annan.

“Bookies have massively over-reacted to that narrow win and having been odds against last weekend the Blue Toon are 1-2 for the visit of Elgin, arguably a much better side than Annan.

“As a result the Black and Whites are a massive 11-2 for the match which is the classic knee-jerk stuff you get from bookies at this stage of the season.

“Elgin were pushing for a promotion place last season before striker Shane Sutherland got crocked and they dropped down to fifth. Sutherland is still on the injury list but manager Jim Weir has brought in Jordan Allan who scored five goals in six games last season while on loan at Northern Irish side Coleraine.

“Allan has yet to get off the mark yet in four games for Elgin but is 7-1 with McBookie to get his first goal for them with the opening goal of the game.

“Moving up into the Championship and I can’t help feeling Queen of the South are too big at 4-1 to beat Dundee Utd at Tannadice.

“In four Championship games last season the honours were even between the two teams with a win apiece and two draws. The Doonhamers began their league campaign with a 4-1 win over Brechin, who may prove to be Championship whipping boys, while the Arabs won 1-0 away to ICT.

“With a Wednesday night League Cup Dundee derby still in the leg I think Queen of the South will be the fresher team and can grab an early goal.

“Talisman and joint top Championship scorer last season, Stephen Dobbie, was ruled out last weekend with a back spasm but is expected to return and is a massive 17-2 to score the first goal with McBookie.

“Finally, last weekend I mentioned Brechin look to have an enormous task staying in the Championship and their 4-1 defeat merely confirmed that.

“I expected Livingston to be much shorter than 4-5 for their trip to Glebe Park but maybe bookies have yet to fully cotton on to the level of side Brechin are putting out.

“Livi have already beaten Championship title contenders Falkirk and St Mirren in the League Cup and beaten Premiership side Partick Thistle on penalties in the same competition.

“A trip to face effectively a League One side in Brechin should hold few terrors for them and they ought to run out easy winners.

“Striker Dale Carrick has two goals to his name this season and is 5-1 with McBookie to grab his third with the first goal of the game.

“Remember, McBookie.com are the only online bookmaker that allows you to bet on scorer markets in the Championship, League One and League Two.

“Can you find a winner – enter the contest for the chance to win £10 or £20.”
