Wimbledon Day 8 Predictions

Round three of Wimbledon is here already, and the match ups are beginning to get spicy. We breakdown the biggest clashes of day five and outline the best betting opportunities at Wimbledon this Friday.

Best Wimbledon Predictions Today

Here are our top betting suggestions for day five of Wimbledon as the Round of 32 kicks off.

Struff to Beat Medvedev @ 6/4

Jan-Lennard Struff is something of an upset merchant. The big-serving German has a game built for grass, with a wicket first serve, great net game and ultra aggressive play style.

He takes on Daniil Medvedev, the perennial baseline grinder from Russia. While Medvedev is the heavy favourite in this clash – he is world No. 5 after all – we’re picking an upset here.

Simply put, Struff is overdue a deep run at Wimbledon. He’s never made it past the third round here, despite having all the weapons to threaten a quarter-final or semi-final. Medvedev has been solid so far, but is no grass court expert by any stretch of the imagination.

This wouldn’t be new ground either, with Struff defeating Medvedev on the grass in Halle three years ago. Back him to oust last year’s semi-finalist for a handy return.

Monfils vs Dimitrov to Be Five Sets @ 13/5

Talk about a brilliant third round match up. French veteran Gael Monfils takes on No. 10 seed Grigor Dimitro for a spot in the last 16.

The intriguing thing about this match up is that though Dimitrov is the higher ranked of the two, Monfils owns a dominant 4-1 head-to-head. We don’t think that will be enough to get him across the line in this encounter–most of their matches were played almost a decade ago–but it is enough to make us confident this one will go the distance.

Monfils loves a five setter too, and despite being 37 years old, the Frenchman is still very fit. We’re reluctant to pick a winner in this clash, but do think it’ll go to five.

Sinner -8.5 Handicap vs Kecmanovic

Finally, top seed Jannik Sinner has had to navigate two tricky tests so far at Wimbledon, dropping a set in each of his two opening matches.

We say those days are behind him, however, and he’ll race through his third round clash against Miomir Kecmanovic in ruthlessly efficient style. The Italian is a brilliant front-runner, and will be eager to save himself for tough matches later in the tournament.

He’ll be relieved to not be playing the dangerous Tallon Griekspoor in this match, and should be lasered in on getting the job done as quickly as possible against the Serbian. Back him to win in straight sets, covering the -8.5 handicap on Friday.
