Can you believe Wimbledon is almost over already? The finalists for Wimbledon 2022 have been confirmed as we look forward to the lady’s singles final on Saturday with the Men's final on Sunday, both on Centre Court.
I’m pleased to say that both our Naps to win the men's and woman’s singles are safely into the finals at SW19.
Defending champion and number one seed Novak Djokovic eventually breezed into the final after a minor first-set scare. British hopeful Cameron Norrie put up a fight to win the first set in front of a packed one-sided centre court crowd but the British No1 had no more to give as the Serb cruised to a 2-6,6-3,6-2,6-4 victory. It’s now the 32nd time Djokovic has reached a grand slam final, truly remarkable.
It was also enough to land our day 12 tip, Djokovic to win & over 30.5 games at 21/20 so well done if you took the advice and collected a few quid.
As you will all be aware Rafael Nadal withdrew last night from the other semi-final so Nick Kyrgios has a place in the final by default. He’ll be looking forward to this encounter with Djokovic who hasn’t won a set against the Aussie bad boy.
Before all of that let’s centre our attention on day 13 at Wimbledon and the lady’s final showdown between Tunisian, Ons Jabeur and Russian-born Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan.
The 23-year-old sensation who chose to represent Kazakhstan while finishing school has established herself as one of the power hitters on the woman’s circuit and has arguably the best serves on the WTA Tour.
She was relentless against Simona Halep in the semi-final with an easy straight-set victory. Rybakina has hit 51% unreturned first serves and 77% first service points won. You’d think who can beat that? One person who certainly won’t be flustered is the player on the other side of the net.
The ever-talented 27yrs old Tunisian, Ons Janeur has a story yet to tell and it’s all going to finish with a fairytale ending. I’m going to keep the faith in our Nap who was advised at 13/5 to win the championship.
Ons Jabeur leads the head-to-head 2-1 and has reached the last seven finals at the same number of attempts. It’s going to take a machine to stop the rising young superstar who is Elena Rybakina but Ons Jabeur has all the tools to dismantle the Kazakhstani in a historic, hard-fought and entertaining victory at SW19.
