With day 12 at Wimbledon fast approaching, we now have our first two finalists for the women's singles on Saturday afternoon.
Our Nap to win the lady’s draw Ons Jabeur marched through to the final with a famous victory on Centre Court over her good friend Tatjana Maria 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
While in the other semifinal Elena Rybakina was too strong for Simona Halep and cruised through to the final with a straight-sets victory 6-3,6-3.
As we move on to day 12 we have the men's singles semi-finals to look forward to and a couple of interesting matchups to keep us entertained throughout Friday.
Number one seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic will take on British No1 Cameron Norrie while the other semi will feature Rafael Nadal who will be up against the Aussie bad boy Nick Kyrgios.
For our Day 12 tip at SW19, I’m going to centre my attention on the match between Rafael Nadal v Nick Kryogios.
With two grand slams already this year, the Spaniard will be eyeing up the treble. Rafael Nadal has won all 19 slam matches this year on his way to collecting both the Australian & French Open titles which incidentally is the first time in his career he has won both titles in the same calendar year.
However, the world number two has an ongoing abdominal injury that almost made him retire when two sets down in a gruelling slug-fest quarter-final against American Taylor Fritz.
It looked as if there was simply no way back for Nadal and it would have been easier for the 22-time major champion to call it a day. After a lengthy medical time out, the Spaniard rebounded in typical Nadal fashion to win the next three sets on the bounce and progress to the semis.
Nick Kyrgios has somehow until now controlled his demons but that could all be down to some fine performances that have got him into a slam semi for the first time in his career. It’s uncharted territory for the Aussie bad boy but if he keeps on playing the way he is then he has no need to get upset at himself or anyone else.
I’m going for Nick Kyrgios to hold an advantage before a ball is even hit on centre court tomorrow.
Knowing full well that Nadal is carrying an injury. I think the Aussie will pounce on the walking wounded from the get-go and this one could be over quickly in straight sets, that’s if Nadal can last that long.
