Two of the top three in the Premier League are in action as things heat up at the top of the table.
Manchester City will be out to end a curious stat this season; they’ve failed to win against any of the teams currently in the top five (D4 L2). One of this defeats came against tonight’s opponents when Aston Villa were absolutely flying at home back in December.
Since the new year Villa have won five out of 10 in the league, all against teams in the bottom half, with the exception of Wolves. They’re unbeaten in five on the road but have an appalling record away to Manchester City where they’ve lost 17 of their last 18 visits.
You have to go back to 2007, 13 meetings ago, for their last victory and the bookies make them 8/1 chances to end that run tonight.
One man they’ll need to be wary of is Erling Haaland who is overdue a goal. The Norwegian hasn’t found the net in any of his last five appearances – a real drought by his standards.
He’s two goals ahead of Villa’s Ollie Watkins, who misses out tonight, in the Premier League scoring charts and it 8/13 to make the net bulge tonight. A Haaland goal coupled with a home win pays 4/5.
More attractive is the 5/4 on City to win to nil. Villa’s attacking options will be blunted with the absence of Watkins whilst City boast the best defensive home record in the top flight.
Free-scoring Arsenal showed a different side to them to carve out a point at the Etihad at the weekend but the shackles will be off this evening when Luton Town visit the Emirates.
The Gunners have scored 23 goals in five matches against the current bottom three, averaging 4.6 goals per game, a fact not missed by the bookies who make them just 11/10 to score four or more and 5/2 to hit five.
After drawing blank at the weekend expect Arsenal to unleash from the off where the best bit of value could be Over 1.5 first half goals at 4/5.
