There’s not much competitive football around today but we do have a cup final north of the border where The New Saints have gatecrashed the Scottish Challenge Cup. It’s a tournament that invites two teams from the other home nations to participate and for just the second time one of them has made it to the final. Back in 2018 […]

Euro 2024 joint favourites, England, welcome Brazil to Wembley for a glamour match in the capital in front of a sell-out crowd. Harry Kane is the most notable absentee but there’s plenty of strength in depth with Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins waiting in the wings for their chance to shine ahead of Gareth Southgate’s final squad selection. England are […]

MONTROSE are a club that continues to punch above their weight and they can close in on a League One promotion play-off spot by winning at 13/10 this week at Stirling Albion. Links Park boss Stewart Petrie is almost criminally undervalued given the job he has done and he’s currently Scotland’s second longest-serving manager. And he’s got a chance of […]

Steve Clarke will learn a bit more about his team’s chances at Euro 2024 after tonight’s friendly match with Netherlands. The Dutchmen were no match for France in Group B but cruised through their other matches unbeaten to qualify comfortably – only to be drawn alongside the French again at the Euros. There’s still a few places up for grabs […]

There’s six one-off semi-finals tonight ahead of three one-off finals on Tuesday. Of all the teams in the play-offs, Ukraine came closest to qualifying automatically. They were denied a 92nd minute penalty in the […]

The international action doesn’t get under way until tomorrow, most notably with the semi-finals of the Euro 2024 Play-Offs. We’ll get a good look at those tomorrow but we’ve made an early start with a look some Under 21 international matches taking place on Thursday too. Scotland’s Under 21s host Kazakhstan in Paisley and it should be a routine win […]

We head in to the final international break of the season this week and the last before Euro 2024. Thankfully! There’ll be plenty to play for when the domestic action returns before the end of the month including a three-way fight for the Premier League title. Arsenal might be at the summit but its champions Man City who head the […]

No team has knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup more often than Manchester United and the Red Devils are eyeing an 11th success in the competition over their great rivals to add to that stat today. The famous old trophy represents United’s last chance at silverware this season and the bookies make them 7/4 to book a place in […]

Pep Guardiola is refusing to be drawn in to discussing the chances of his side winning successive trebles. Man City were handed a tough route to the final of the Champions League in yesterday’s draw with Real Madrid then with Arsenal or Bayern Munich standing in their way of the finale at Wembley Stadium. They should take book at least […]

Dundee United can’t shake off Raith Rovers who are hanging on to their coat-tails, just one point at the top of the Scottish Championship table. The Terrors have a chance to open up a four gap with a win at Dunfermline tonight and it’s been their away form that’s been the cornerstone of their charge to the title. Jim Goodwin’s […]

Ibrox looks set for another Thursday night thriller following Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Benfica last week and there’s no reason why the Gers can’t finish the job off to book a place in the last eight of the Europa League. Phillipe Clement’s men led twice in Lisbon despite the Eagles enjoying the lion’s share of possession but the Portuguese looked […]

It took penalties to decide the outcome of the Champions League tie at the Emirates last night and we could be in for an equally tense and late finish in either of this evening’s ties. Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid meet again after Marko Arnautović’s goal separated the sides in Italy a fortnight ago and it’s set to be another […]

Stamford Bridge has seldom been a happy hunting ground for Newcastle but they might just fancy their chances of getting something against Chelsea tonight. In the Premier League era the Magpies have won just once in 28 visits (D7 L20) and away form so far this season shouldn’t fill them with much hope of making a dent in that stat […]

It’s not often you’ll see Liverpool at 2/1 to win at Anfield but it’s a measure of the injuries Jurgen Klopp has had to contend with, and of course the quality of today’s opponents, Manchester City.
Matip, Jota, Jones, Gravenberch, Alisson, Alexander-Arnold and Alcantra are all on the Reds’ injury list with Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate both touch and […]

Thomas Frank must be scratching his head about how to stop a rampant Arsenal ahead of his side’s trip to the Etihad this evening. The Gunners are in incredible form, scoring 31 goals in their last seven Premier League matches (6-0, 4-1, 5-0, 6-0, 3-1, 2-1 & 5-0) and host a Brentford side who have shipped 11 goals in their […]

With just 10 games to go the race for the Championship title and promotions to the top flight is really hotting up. There’s just five points separating the top three and Leeds have the chance to leapfrog Ipswich and move within two points of Leicester ahead of them both facing tricky away matches on Saturday. All Leeds have to do […]

Five British teams are chasing European success with tie looking intriguing in its own right. Liverpool’s squad has been stretched to the limit recently but Mo Salah’s return to the fold has given them a big boost ahead of their Europa League clash with Sparta Prague. The Czech’s finished second in Rangers’ group, a point behind the Glaswegians and were […]

Manchester City appear to have already done the hard work in their Last 16 tie against FC Copenhagen and take a 3-1 lead in to tonight’s clash at the Etihad. The Danes have already lost in Manchester this season, in dramatic fashion, when Jordan Larsson missed an injury time penalty that saw them lose 1-0 at Old Trafford. Tonight they […]

Bayern Munich are heading for their worst domestic season in a decade but they remain 4/11 favourites to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League despite trailing 1-0 to Lazio from the first leg. Their domestic campaign has turned in to a disaster under Thomas Tuchel who has overseen a 3-0 defeat in the Super Cup, an early exit in […]

Arsenal have been blowing teams away in the Premier League lately and the Gunners have Sheffield United in their crosshairs at Bramall Lane tonight.
Mikel Arteta’s men have won six in a row in the league and scored a thumping 25 goals in the process. They’ve hit 5, 2, 3, 6, 5 & 4, averaging over four goals per game […]

No-one is giving Manchester United a chance in this afternoon’s derby not least the bookies who have them at 9/1 to silence their noisy neighbours. They’ve won just one of the last five meetings with City and last week’s 2-1 defeat at Fulham exposed some of the cracks that recent results had been papering over. Erik ten Hag’s men had […]

It looks a tough day for punters in the Premier League where Tottenham look the most assured bet at home to Crystal Palace. Oliver Glasner started his tenure as Eagles boss with a win against Burnley last week but things should be a whole lot tougher today. He’s still got a raft of injuries to contend with and an abysmal […]

There should be an air of optimism around the Hawthorns tonight following the confirmation this week that West Bromwich Albion is under new ownership. Florida-based entrepreneur Shilen Patel has outlined his ambition to make the club a “consistent Premier League presence” once again and a win tonight over Coventry City in the West Country Derby would keep the Baggies in […]
