Today’s tennis betting tips feature two fascinating clashes from the Paris Masters. Despite the main focus of the week being the Race to Turin, we’ll be looking at two players not in contention for the ATP Finals. Why? Because they’re the best value, and we’re confident these two bets will come through this Thursday.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
In our first bet, we’re going to be backing Karen Khachanov to beat Alexei Popyrin in what will be a very close matchup. In the other, we’re picking Arthur Fils to upset Alexander Zverev, continuing his amazing run in recent weeks.
Khachanov to defeat Popyrin @ 5/6
Khachanov has played superb tennis in recent weeks, especially last week when he made the final in Vienna. He did lose to Jack Draper, but the British player has been on fire himself, so that’s not that terrible of a loss.
The Russian won this event many years ago, so there is clearly something working for him here in Paris. He also beat Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the previous round, which was an impressive win as well.
He has a massive serve and a good forehand and generally has been very good indoors for much of his career, so him beating Popyrin shouldn’t be that hard. The Aussie has been good himself, but this matchup hasn’t been good for him in the past.
They played four matches so far, and Khachanov has won three of those, including the only one they played this year. We think there is a very good chance that he wins this one, and with the odds being what they are, it’s a great bet.
Fils to defeat Zverev @ 7/4
Arthur Fils is a terrible matchup for Zverev, and he showed it earlier this year when they played at the Hamburg Open. Despite playing in Zverev’s hometown, the German didn’t win the match.
Zverev has beaten him twice, including once this year, but that was before Fils made the jump that he has made recently. Fils has been playing at a higher level in recent weeks than before, and that just makes this bet far more likely.
The problem is that Fils has a massive game and is quite aggressive with it, which can create problems for Zverev who tends to be a bit timid. Fils also excels under pressure, which can’t be said for Zverev.
Another reason why backing Fils makes sense is because he is playing at home and he will be motivated to win this one. Zverev might be thinking of Turin already. It’s happened before, and when it comes down to it, we think Fils simply has more reason to push and win the match.
