St Mirren vs Aberdeen
SPFL Premiership. Kick-off: 3pm, Saturday 14th December.
ORAN KEARNEY would have been hoping his first win as St Mirren boss would have acted as the springboard for an upsurge in form to take his side clear of the drop zone.
But that surprise 2-0 victory at home to Hearts has been followed by two defeats and a draw, leaving his side rooted to the bottom after a surge from revitalised Dundee.
And the excellent point they took home from Easter Road after a thrilling 2-2 draw with Hibs has been overshadowed by two awful performances in games against Hamilton and Livingston the fans had every right to expect victories from.
Kearney branded their second-half display in the 3-1 loss to Livi last weekend as unacceptable and will be looking for a reaction against Aberdeen.
The bookies don't believe he will get one as St Mirren are 888 Sport's 4/1 outsiders, with the Dons 3/4 favourites and the draw 12/5.
But I can see this being a struggle for Aberdeen, especially after their midweek exertions saw them push right until stoppage time before Lewis Ferguson sealed a 3-2 home win over Livingston.
Boss Derek McInnes admitted his players were feeling tired after last weekend's home loss to St Johnstone and a tough shift in midweek will have only added to the weary legs.
So it could pay to place a few quid on the Buddies, although they'll miss Kyle Magennis, and they are 14/5 in the draw no bet market if you want to cover your back a little.
After shutting out Rangers at Ibrox, Aberdeen haven't been solid at the back in their last two games, shipping two goals against both St Johnstone and Livingston. So I like the look of both teams to score here which is 21/20 with 888 Sport.
Adam Hammill has been the one ray of light for the Buddies in a pretty grim season, scoring some spectacular goals. The Scouser is a generous 13/1 for first scorer with 888 Sport and good value at 6/1 for anytime scorer.
Aberdeen have chopped and changed their attack recently so it may pay to wait until the teams are announced before picking a Dons scorer. But Gary Mackay-Steven could come back in after his horror head injury in the League Cup Final and the winger is 6/1 to net first with 888 Sport and 27/10 for anytime scorer.
