IT was nice to land a winner last night in the betting minefield that is the Nations League and now I'm going to turn my attention to another chaotic competition from a punting perspective, namely, the Betfred Cup.

Morton vs Queen's Park (Tuesday, 19:45)

Both Greenock Morton and Queen's Park will be looking to kick start their respective Betfred Cup campaigns when they clash at Cappielow on Tuesday night.

The Ton played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Queen of the South last midweek but David Hopkin's men were unable to pinch the bonus point with the Doonhamers winning the subsequent penalty shootout.

Big-spending Queen's Park, meanwhile, returned to competitive action last Saturday when falling to a 2-0 defeat away at League 1 antepost title favourites Partick Thistle.

Scotland’s oldest club ended their long-established history as the country's top amateur side by making the decision to turn professional towards the end of 2019 and the Spiders have since made a number of eye-catching Summer signings.

Consequently, Ray McKinnon's men are odds-on with bookies to claim the League 2 crown, however, the Glasgow outfit are big outsiders in this Tuesday night tussle at 13/2 with BetVictor.

Indeed, those odds make appeal, however, there is an alternative angle that I'm more attracted to when making use of William Hill's Build Your Odds feature.

The combination I like the look of is Queen's Park to score and Queen's with a + 3 start on the handicap – both of which combined will give us a nice looking 5/6 shot with William Hill.

Goals were a regular feature of Morton's fixtures last season – 10 of their final 11 outings seen both teams oblige – and their defensive deficiencies were again laid bare when shipping two goals at home to Queen of the South last Tuesday night.

What's more, Morton had the leakiest backline in the Championship last term and with that in mind, coupled with the array of attacking talent McKinnon at his disposal, I'm more than happy to back the ambitious Spiders to strike during this Betfred Cup bout.

I'm also prepared to back the visitors with a 3+ start on the handicap – Queen's Park have a number of players who are more than capable of playing at a higher level in Scotland and I fully expect this match to be a lot closer than what the betting suggests.

Can’t believe how disappointing Queens Park were. Only 1 shot on target in the whole game.😂
