SlipsTips is back to share three angles of attack ahead of Saturday's stacked SPFL fixture list.
Celtic vs Rangers (Saturday, 12:30)
Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers will go toe-to-toe for the first time this season when the pair square off in the Scottish Premiership at Parkhead on Saturday.
Only two points separates the Glasgow giants after five rounds of fixtures, and with it often said that form goes out of the window in Old Firm clashes, I’m going to swerve the 1×2 market and head to Bet Builder market and combine over zero Celtic goals and over five Celtic corners at 10/11 (Bet 365).
Celtic have been attacking relentlessly all season and I see no reason that will stop here with the incentive of surging five points clear of their fierce rivals.
Ange Postecoglou has the most potent attack in the Scottish Premiership at his disposal, with his free-scoring side smashing in 21 goals across their opening five league games, not to mention they have scored at least once in 38 of their 43 league games under their Aussie manager.
That doesn’t bode well for a Rangers side that have conceded at least one goal in 10 of their last 12 Scottish Premiership away matches, a sequence dating back to last season.
As such, I’m more than happy to back the high-octane hosts to strike at least once on Saturday, but to boost the price, I’ll also throw over five Celtic corners into the equation.
Postecoglou’s attacked-minded outfit, who will be roared on by a raucous home crowd, were averaging a colossal 9.24 corners per-game in the Scottish Premiership last season, and their average this term sits at a chunky 8.80.
With all this in mind, as well as the fact that the aforementioned Bet Builder would have delivered profit in five of Celtic’s opening six games of the season, supporting the same play at Parkhead on Saturday makes appeal at 10/11 (Bet 365).
Recommended Bet
- Over 0 Celtic Goals
- Over 5 Celtic Corners
- Bet Builder – 10/11 (Bet 365)
Arbroath vs Partick Thistle (Saturday, 15:00)
Partick Thistle will be aiming to make it four wins on the bounce when they make the trip to Arbroath on Saturday.
Ian McCall’s men have clicked into top gear in recent weeks, having swept aside both Invernses and Raith Rovers before dumping Dick Campbell’s side out of the Premier Sports Cup in midweek.
There is no getting away from the fact that the Smokies are in the midst of a slump and that makes the 10/11 (William Hill) price about Partick Thistle Draw No Bet an enticing one.
This is a selection that will see our stake returned should the match end all square, while a Jags triumph would deliver a full pay-out at shade under even-money.
While Arbroath have displayed a continued ability to punch well above their weight in recent years, they are without a league win this season so far and have lost their last four matches across all competitions, one of which, as already mentioned, was against Thistle.
Considering the contrasting form of these sides, the 10/11 (William Hill) on offer on Partick Thistle in the Draw No Bet market looks like an attractive betting proposition at Gayfield on Saturday.
Recommended Bet
- Partick Thistle – Draw No Bet – 10/11 (William Hill)
Peterhead vs Montrose (Saturday, 15:00)
Montrose will be looking to continue their climb up the Scottish League One table when they pay Peterhead a visit on Saturday afternoon.
Stuart Petrie’s side took until matchday four to register their maiden league win of the season against Clyde but they swiftly followed up on that success with a comprehensive 3-0 crushing of Kelty Hearts last weekend.
As for Peterhead, they have endured a wretched start to their campaign, collecting just one point from the 15 on offer to them thus far, with their most recent setback a 5-0 annihilation at Alloa.
Montrose will have their backers here at a general 4/5, but we can get some 17/20 (Betway) on the visitors to score two or more goals and that looks like a worthy boost in price.
As already mentioned, Jim McInally’s men have made a miserable start to the season, and that can be attributed to the fact that they are leaking goals at an alarming rate.
The Blue Toon have conceded a minimum of two goals in each of their nine league and cup outings this season to date and the 17/20 (Betway) on them suffering the same fate on Saturday is a price that definitely represents value.
Recommended Bet
- Over 1.5 Montrose Goals – 17/20 (Betway)
