After delivering another winner in his featured column last weekend, SlipsTips returns to share a selection from Queen of the South's clash with Peterhead in Scottish League One on Saturday.
Queen of the South vs Peterhead (Saturday, 15:00)
Queen of the South will be looking to win three Scottish League One games in succession for the first time this season when they play host to Peterhead on Saturday.
It's been an up and down season for the Doonhmers but they have shown signs of life of late having banked back-to-back wins over both Falkirk and FC Edinburgh respectively
This is stark contrast to rock-bottom Peterhead who have endured a miserable season so far, with their most recent setback coming against Alloa in a 2-0 defeat last Saturday.
It’s no surprise to see Queen of the South chalked up as heavy 3/10 favourites on Saturday but we can get some 39/40 (Bet 365) on them to overcome a -1.5 start on the Asian Handicap and that looks like an enticing boost in price.
This selection would require Marvin Bartley’s men to win by at least two goals and that holds plenty of appeal when you consider the contrasting form of these two sides sides.
As already mentioned, Queen of the South have been on an upward curve in recent weeks, taking 10 points from the last 12 on offer, moving up to sixth pot in the standings in the process.
In fact, internally, I suspect the Dumfries outfit will be flirting with the idea of mounting a late charge for a top-four finish, and if so they will have earmarked this fixture with basement boys Peterhead as one where three points are crucial.
Managerless Peterhead look set to make the long trip south under the supervision of joint caretaker bosses Ryan Strachan and Jordon Brown and the badly out-of-form Blue Toon should expect little respite when they pitch up at Palmerston Park.
The beleaguered Balmoor outfit's problems have been well-documented since way back in the summer and they have subsequently gone on to lose 21 of their 29 league games so far, shipping a whopping 72 goals along the way.
What’s more, Peterhead’s opponents have successfully covered a -1.5 hurdle on the Asian Handicap in a mammoth 19 of those 21 losses, so backing in-form Queen of the South to follow suit here at a share under evens is a price that definitely represents value.
