SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Ross County’s clash with St Johnstone in the Scottish Championship on Friday night.

Ross County vs St Johnstone (Friday, 19:45)

Both Ross County and St Johnstone will be looking to lay down an early-season marker when the pair do battle in Dingwall on Friday night.

The two teams headed the outright betting in the Scottish Championship before a ball was kicked last weekend.

Title favourites Ross County failed to get up and running at the first attempt last Saturday, throwing away a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw away at Airdrie.

As for St Johnstone, they showed no signs of a relegation hangover by getting off to a flier by thrashing Partick Thistle 5-1 at McDiarmid Park last weekend.

Fresh off the back of that statement victory, I’m keen to keep the Saints onside on Friday night, and backing the visitors with a +0.25 start on the Asian Handicap at 31/40 (Bet 365) holds plenty of appeal.

This selection provides profit should Simo Valakari’s side avoid defeat, a hugely attractive offering given the strong start to the season that St Johnstone have made.

Not only did the Perth outfit pick up an emphatic victory last weekend, but they also produced a string of impressive performances during the league phase of the Scottish League Cup.

In fact, St Johnstone were one of only three teams to win each of their four group games, most notably ruthlessly cutting apart Elgin City with an 8-0 victory.

Ross County, on the other hand failed to emerge from their group, spilling points away at Stranraer, not to mention they were soundly beaten 3-1 when hosting Partick Thistle in a section decider.

As mentioned, the Staggies have since drawn 2-2 with an Airdrie side that preserved their second tier status by the skin of their teeth last season.

That doesn't bode well ahead of a visit from a free-scoring St Johnstone side that are oozing confidence right now.

So with all that in mind, I’ll happily support the Saints at 31/40 off a +0.25 start on the Asian Handicap in the Highlands on Friday night.
