Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich (Friday, 19:30)
Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich go toe-to-toe on Friday night in a blockbuster fixture to start the weekend in the Bundesliga.
Bayern haven't looked their fluid best this season but the Bavarians occupy top spot and they will be difficult to reel in as they target a ninth consecutive league crown.
Last time out Hansi Flick's side survived a first-half scare by coming from two goals behind to defeat Mainz 5-2.
Borussia Monchengladbach, meanwhile, have made a mixed start to the season with a return of five wins, six draws and three defeats from their opening 14 Bundesliga fixtures of the season.
However, Marco Rose's men demonstrated that they can mix it with the big boys when qualifying for the last-16 of this season's Champions League, and it's worth noting that the Foals won this fixture last season.
Therefore, this should be a hugely entertaining encounter and as ever I'll head to the Bet Builder market, and for this fixture I'll take both teams to score, over 6 match corners and each team to receive over zero cards, a 21/20 shot with BetVictor.
Both teams have obliged in 12 of Bayern's 14 Bundesliga assignments this season and it's worth mentioning that the men from Munich have failed to record a clean sheet on the road this season.
Indeed, Gladbach have blown hot and cold this season but the Foals have found the back of the net in all but one of their last 20 matches across all competitions and BTTS has banked in 11/14 Borussia Monchengladbach Bundesliga fixtures this term.
With that in mind, I'm happy to back both teams to strike on Friday night but I'll also add in over seven match corners on account of Bayern's 6.79 team corner per game average, the highest in the division
When digging slightly deeper it can be seen that Flick's star-studded side have hit seven or more flag kicks in each of their last five league fixtures, whilst Gladbach are averaging just under six corners per 90 minutes.
Unfortunately Bundesliga referee appointments are not announced until the day of the match so it's currently a waiting game to see who will take charge of this showdown.
However, a large majority of German whistlers are averaging over three cards per game this season and both teams have received at least one card in each of Bayern's last four Bundesliga bouts.
What's more, this fixture is viewed as “the original klassiker” of German football due to a longstanding rivalry that dates back to the late 1960's through to the early 1980's when these two heavyweights dominated the division.
That has led to a fair share of fiery fixtures between these old foes over the years and it's also worth noting that the above-mentioned combination has clicked in each of the last two meetings at Borussia-Park.
