For once, an Old Firm match isn't the highlight of a weekend in Scotland with little to play in the clash at Celtic Park so KevMac focuses on the other Premiership matches with plenty riding on them.

The top-six shoot-out goes down to the wire in the Premiership today and it’s a battle of the Saints for that coveted final place.

St Mirren are in the box seat, leading St Johnstone by two points, but a slip-up in their clash at Hamilton could see the Perth side jump above them.

St Johnstone v Ross County Tips

Callum Davidson’s men host Ross County in their clash and neither match is a gimme with their opponents desperate for points in the relegation scrap.

But the bookies reckon St Johnstone have the easier game as they are just 4/6 at McBookie for a win while St Mirren’s price is 23/20.

That’s also down to the Perth’s side fine form, with only Rangers and Celtic defeating them in the last 14 games, while the Buddies have claimed just one win in seven.

Hamilton v St Mirren Tips

But I’ve a feeling Jim Goodwin’s men will have enough in the tank to get over the line so I’m backing them to beat an Accies side with only one victory in 11 games.

Five of the last six St Mirren games have seen under 2.5 goals so that looks a good shout here at a best 7/11 with Mansionbet.

I’m tempted to go for both teams to score at McDiarmid Park as that bet has landed for me in Ross County’s last two games.

St Johnstone have been a mean machine at home, keeping 10 clean sheets this term, but the Staggies scored on their last visit to seal a 1-0 win.

That was the only time BTTS had failed to land in their last seven meetings and the bet pays 11/10 here (McBookie).

Dundee Utd v Aberdeen Tips

Dundee United still have a mathematical chance of finishing sixth but they would need to defeat Aberdeen heavily and hope both the Saints slip up.

The Dons are playing for the first time since Derek McInnes’ departure and it will be interesting to see if there’s a reaction.

A horror run of just one goal in nine games brought the axe down on McInnes and United have been far from free-flowing under Micky Mellon.

Betting against goals looks the shout here but under 2.5 strikes is just 4/7 with McBookie.

The odds for ‘BTTS no’ are better at 5/6 with BetVictor while a one-goal winning margin for either side is priced a decent 5/4 with McBookie.

Celtic v Rangers Tips

Rangers head into tomorrow’s Glasgow derby as champions and the only thing Celtic have to play for in the Premiership is making sure their rivals don’t go a full league campaign undefeated.

This is their best chance of doing just that, with Gers heading to Parkhead on the back of a bruising defeat to Slavia Prague on Thursday night.

The Hoops are a decent price at 13/8 with McBookie but Steven Gerrard’s men have made a habit of getting results even when they aren’t on top of their game.

So I’m steering clear of a winner and going for cards instead.

Over 5.5 cards is 4/5 with McBookie while a sending-off, which has landed in four of the last five derbies, pays 5/2 at William Hill. For a bonkers bet, Paddy Power price a red for both sides at 30/1.

Odsonne Edouard has saved some of his best displays for clashes with Rangers and the French striker is a little overpriced at 21/10 for another derby goal with Paddy Power.

Scottish Lower League Tips

NOBODY knows quite what to expect today when League One and Two come out of cold storage.

But Queen’s Park were running away with the fourth tier before action was halted and will be on plenty of accas today at 8/13 with McBookie to beat Stranraer. Doubling a Spiders win with over 2.5 goals increases the odds to 6/4 and that’s my pick.

The clash between Partick and Cove is the best game in League One. The Jags were mean at the back before lockdown but I can see goals here with both defences rusty. Over 2.5 goals pays evens at McBookie while BTTS is 17/20.

The Championship is less of a minefield for punters with all the teams up to speed.

Inverness won for the first time under Neil McCann in midweek but only after an early red card for Raith.

So I fancy Dunfermline to beat Caley Thistle in Fife at a decent 6/5 with McBookie.

Leaders Hearts head to Arbroath and I’m backing over 2.5 goals at 20/21 with the Jambos hitting form again.

Super Singles

  • St Mirren to win (23/20, McBookie)
  • BTTS no in United v Dons (5/6, BetVictor)
  • Queen’s Park win and over 2.5 goals (6/4, McBookie)
  • Dunfermline to win (6/5, McBookie)

Bonkers Bet

  • Both sides red card in Old Firm (30/1, Paddy Power)
