THE wait is finally over for football fans as Saturday brings the much-anticipated return of league football in Scotland and England. My main focus on Saturday will always be on the Scottish matches and there are a number of games I like the look of.

Hibs should take care of a St Mirren side who have had a shambolic pre-season and Betfred Cup campaign. Ross County I feel will edge out Hamilton in Dingwall and Partick Thistle will be looking to make a winning stat against an Alloa side who look certain for the drop this season.

I'll be at Celtic Park watching through my hands as we look to ruin Celtics flag unfurling – good luck with your bets and here's to a profitable season.

Alloa Athletic vs Partick Thistle (3pm)

Last season can only be described as a disaster for Thistle boss Gary Caldwell after only securing safety in the remaining few games of the season when they should have been pushing for promotion.

I can't imagine them being sucked into another relegation battle and they should be much more reliable this season, aided by the addition of Kenny Miller who's already scored two this season and after a good Betfred Cup, there will be an air of optimism about what the new season will bring.

They travel to play an Alloa side who outside Kilmarnock were the biggest overachieving club in Scotland last season. For them to stay in the league given their small budget, fanbase and the fact they are part-time was an incredible achievement.

It was no surprise Jim Goodwin had attracted admirers from the bigger clubs and his departure to St Mirren was a huge blow for the Wasps. Peter Grant has taken over and has a big job on his hands and I just feel Thistle will edge this with the experience they have right through the spine of their team.

Recommended Bet

  • Partick Thistle
  • 66/67 (Marathonbet) (NAP)

Scottish Premiership Goals Special

I'm surprised Sky Bet are offering a total goals market today, especially with Celtic being at home and with Hibs v St Mirren also likely to see some goals I'm more than happy to take on the 10+ goals line.

Given St Johnstone's Betfred Cup campaign, Celtic could bring in 5+ goals on their own.

Recommended Bet

  • 10+ goals to be scored
  • 4/5 (Skybet) (NB)

Scottish Goals Treble

  • Celtic v St Johnstone
  • Dundee United v ICT
  • Airdrie v Forfar

Over 2.5 goals treble pays just under 6/1 (Marathonbet)

Another Alloa basher, different season same story, heh you may be right but can’t think of any reason why Arbroath, Morton or Q.O.S(Steven Dobbie apart) are any better than us. Nobody will get an easy ride at The Recs and that my friend is a sure thing, Happy Punting!!

Haha not at all mate – Don’t take it personally.

Their’s a reason why I said Thistle will edge it as I’m well aware it will be a tough game, especially being at home.

No sting today, Wasps should have been 3 up at half time playing a brand of football that is up there with the best. In the end will take a draw cos Thistle improved second half.
TIP TO ALL – DONT INCLUDE SHORT PRICED TEAMS IN YOUR ACCAS PLAYING AT RECREATION PARK – THEY’RE ENDETH THE LESSON.

Think your team is in for a long hard season mate. I know you were playing celtic away but even your betfred Cup form before this was dire

It’s looking that way – Celtic were exceptional today.

Still think we’ll be fine – Livi at home next week 🙏🏼
