Wigan Athletic and Northampton Town both finished in the lower reaches of League One last season so they'll be hoping a win on day one can spark a more successful campaign this time around.
Northampton were the first to change their boss last term, with John Brady resigning in December as the club sat in the drop zone, leaving former Bolton and Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan to pick up the reins.
Nolan did a great job steadying the ship, losing just nine of his 25 games in charge as Town avoided the drop with a bit to spare, finishing five points clear of the drop zone.
He will now be out to build on that promising start to his reign so Northampton can start looking up the table instead of over their shoulders.
Wigan kept faith with Shaun Maloney right up until March before deciding to change things, with the Latics languishing in 15th place.
Ryan Lowe took charge and also had an instant impact, losing just two of the remaining 13 games in the campaign. Eight of those matches ended in stalemates though so Lowe will be looking to turn draws into wins this term to fire Wigan up the table.
How the bookies view it: Wigan with the edge
This is a tricky one to call with both teams having similar campaigns last year but Wigan did finish five points above Northampton and BoyleSports make them 23/20 favourites with home advantage. Town are priced at 9/4 and the draw will be popular at 9/4 given the Latics had so many stalemates last term.
Recent head to head: Latics bossing it
These teams faced off on the final day of last season and they battled out a 1-1 draw in Northampton. That came after a 2-1 home win for Wigan and the Latics have dominated this fixture recently, winning 10 of the last 13 meetings.
Players to watch: Mullin on a mission
Paul Mullin is the big-name arrival at Wigan this summer and the on-loan Wrexham hero will be out to revive his career after spending a lot of last season on the sidelines. He's a proven finisher and is 15/8 at Bet365 for a goal on his competitive debut.
Midfielder Elliot List scored four times for Stevenage last term and the Northampton new boy could be a decent option for goal in this one at 4/1 with Bet365.
Probable line-ups
Wigan had defender Will Aimson sent off in that final game of last term against Northampton so he will be suspended for this term's opener. Midfielder Joe Adams is also set to miss out due to injury.
Northampton should still be without skipper Joe Guthrie as he continues his recovery from injury.
Wigan Athletic: Tickle, Sessegnon, Kerr, Mellish, Robinson, Wright, Smith, Murray, McManaman, Mullin, Saidee.
Northampton Town: Burge, Burroughs, McCarthy, Baldwin, Ireland, Fornah, McGeechan, Sawyer, List, Jacobs, Eaves.
Anything else catch the eye?
Games can often be cagey in the season opener and the half-time draw looks worth a punt, although the odds aren't great at just 10/11 with BoyleSports.
Wigan weren't involved in many thrillers towards the end of last term, with their final 10 games all seeing under 2.5 goals. That's why that bet pays just 1/2 for this one but BTTS may be worth a look at evens as it landed the last three games for the Latics.
