LEICESTER CITY get a chance to take their minds off a tiring Premier League campaign as they attempt to take a step closer to repeating their 2021 FA Cup triumph when they travel to face Walsall.
The Foxes are still in a relegation fight having failed to win a league game since the World Cup break. Mercifully for Brendan Rodgers, his side have managed to get through their two potential banana FA Cup ties at MK Dons and Gillingham.
They face another one on Saturday lunchtime at mid-table League Two side Walsall, who defeated Wycombe Wanderers, Carlisle United and Stockport County to win this reward.
Michael Flynn's side are in an excellent run of form having turned around a terrible start to the season. They have won nine of their last 12 games in all competitions and only lost once in that run.
Leicester were a long way from at their best in the last round in Kent against Gillingham and this trip to the West Midlands could be a tricky afternoon for them.
City could hand new £17 million signing Victor Kristiansen his first start after his move from FC Copenhagen
How the bookies view it
Leicester City are generally around 1/3 although there is a touch of 7/20 around with UniBet.
Walsall can be backed at 44/5 with SBK and the draw is 9/2 with bet365.
Recent head to heads
The clubs were last in the same league 14 years ago in League One and Leicester won 4-1 on their last trip to Walsall. Walsall did win their last FA Cup meeting between the sides in 1978 though.
Players to watch
With top scorer Danny Johnston returning to Mansfield Town after his loan spell expired, veteran striker Andy Williams could get a chance. He netted the winner in the last round at Stockport County and is 11/2 to score anytime on Saturday.
Kelechi Iheanacho was Leicester's hero in the last round with the only goal of the game at Gillingham and he is 11/8 to score against Walsall with bet365.
Anything else catch the eye?
This has the makings of a real slog for Leicester against a side who are managed by Michael Flynn – who was in charge of Newport County when they knocked out the Foxes from the FA Cup in 2019.
They are flying at the moment and given Leicester made such hard work of beating Gillingham in the last round, it's worth taking a stab on Walsall getting a replay here at least. They are 23/10 with 888sport on the double chance.
Four of Leicester's last five games has seen under 2.5 goals and they have generally struggled to score many goals this season. This could be a tight encounter and unders are worth a go at 6/5 with UniBet.
