Paris Saint-Germain will look to maintain their 100% start to the Ligue 1 campaign as they travel to Southern France to take on Toulouse on Saturday night.
Luis Enrique’s hosts made a winning start to the defence of their Ligue 1 title, as they won 0-1 away at Nantes thanks to a second-half strike from Vitinha.
The Parisians then followed up that victory with a 1-0 success at home to Angers in their first home game of the season thanks to a Fabian Ruiz strike five minutes into the second half, helping land a couple of winners for me.
PSG aren’t the only side to boast a 100% record after the opening two rounds of Ligue 1 fixtures, with Toulouse making it two wins from two.
Carles Martinez Novell’s visitors began their campaign with a late 0-1 victory away at Nice, before a quick-fire brace from striker Frank Magri gave Les Violetes a 2-0 win over Brest last Sunday.
How the bookies view it: PSG favourites
Unsurprisingly, PSG are favourites to maintain their 100% start to the Ligue 1 season, with BoyleSports pricing them at 4/11.
The same firm has Toulouse at 11/2 to make it three wins from three to begin the campaign, whilst the draw is 15/4.
Head to head: Three on the bounce for The Parisians?
Luis Enrique’s men did the double over Toulouse last season, winning 3-0 at the Parc des Princes, and 0-1 at this venue in February.
Toulouse recently defeated the Ligue 1 champions in the French capital the season before last, but their last win at home came back in 2016.
Players to watch: Ruiz to reign again?
Fabian Ruiz was the match-winner against Angers last week, adding to the three goals he scored in the Club World Cup in the summer. The Spanish midfielder also scored PSG’s only goal in their 0-1 victory here in February, and is an appealing 7/2 at BoyleSports to find the target once again.
Predicted line-ups:
Toulouse are expected to be without German midfielder Niklas Schmidt and winger Ilyas Azizi through injury.
Luis Enrique appears to have a fully fit squad at his disposal, with only Senny Mayulu deemed a doubt.
Toulouse: Restes, Sidibe, Cresswell, McKenzie, Casseres Jnr, Canvot, Sauer, Methalie, Donnum, Gboho, Magri
Paris Saint-Germain: Chevalier, Hakimi, Pacho, Marquinhos, Mendes, Vitinha, Neves, Ruiz, Doue, Barcola, Dembele
Anything else catch the eye?
PSG have won each of their opening two Ligue 1 fixtures this campaign, but they have been far from their free-flowing selves, winning away at Nantes and at home to Angers by a solitary goal to nil.
Toulouse have also won their opening two Ligue 1 contests of the campaign, keeping clean sheets in both, so I’m not expecting a goal-laden encounter.
The Parisians defeated Les Violetes 3-0 and 0-1 last season, so a PSG win & Under 4.5 Goals pays an appealing 4/5 at Skybet, whilst a PSG Win to Nil pays a juicier 11/8 at BoyleSports.
