TOTTENHAM have seen their title hopes shrink following a four-game winless run and they can ill-afford to be found wanting when they face Fulham on Wednesday night.
Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace prior to defeats against Liverpool and Leicester, and last time out Jose Mourinho's side conceded a late equaliser at Wolves.
That setback at Molineux was not a performance to strengthen talk of title aspirations as Mourinho's men slid down to seventh in the Premier League standings.
Consequently, Spurs will be seeking a much-needed shot in the arm when fast-improving Fulham make the short trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this midweek.
Scott Parker's side have finally found their feet in the Premier League and they will be looking to continue their upward curve when they head across the city for Wednesday's London derby
The Cottagers have drawn each of their last four Premier League matches, the most recent of which was a stalemate against Southampton, in a game where my recommended bet landed.
Outright Betting
Tottenham are odds-on favourites at 8/15 with BetVictor to bag their first Premier League win in five matches.
Fulham have lost eight of their last nine matches against Tottenham and the bookies odds suggest that trend is set to continue with an away win an unfancied 11/2 with Bet 365, while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 16/5 with the same firm.
Betting Angles
Goals have been at a premium in Premier League matches involving these two sides in recent weeks and I fancy that theme to continue at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Seven of Spurs last eight league matches have produced fewer than three goals and the under 2.5 goal play has copped in each of the Cottagers last five top-flight tussles.
With that in mind, I'm happy to back Tottenham to get back to winning ways this midweek in a match that features under 4.5 goals, a 17/20 shot at Betway.
Taking this approach would have delivered profit in each of Tottenham's last five Premier League victories and I fully expect Spurs to halt their winless streak and restore some confidence when relegation-threatened Fulham come calling.
It's also worth noting that the above-mentioned combination has clicked in six of Fulham's eight defeats to date, and that only adds to the appeal of siding with the same formula in North London on Wednesday night.
I'll also head to the Bet Builder market and combine over zero Tottenham goals and over one Fulham card, a combination that pays 5/6 with Bet 365.
Mourinho has some serious firepower at his disposal and despite Fulham's recent improvement they have failed to record a clean sheet on their travels this term, and they may have to revert to the dark arts when trying to tame Tottenham's top-heavy attack.
The West Londoners are averaging 2.07 cards per game this season – the second-highest tally in the division – and given that the Cottagers have clocked up two or more cautions in 12 of their 15 league matches this season I'm happy to side with a repeat during this London derby.
