PSG’s perfect start to the French Ligue 1 season is set to continue as they welcome Montpellier to the Parc des Princes. The hosts have been ruthless at home this season and are expected to roll over their visitors on Saturday.
It was yet another victory for PSG last time out in Ligue 1 as they claimed a 2-1 win over Metz. They were made to work hard by the hosts but claimed the victory thanks to an injury time winner from Achraf Hakimi, who also scored the opener.
PSG could not have asked for a better start to their quest to reclaim the Ligue 1 title as they have a perfect record after seven matches. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have opened up a gap on the rest of the league and are seven points clear at the top of the table.
The Parisians do their best work at home and have won their last six Ligue 1 matches at the Parc des Princes stretching back to last season. They have also scored four times in two of their last three home matches.
Montpellier were held to a 3-3 draw by Bordeaux in their previous Ligue 1 fixture. Valere Germain netted a brace while Florent Mollet was also on target as they led heading into the final five minutes before conceding the equaliser.
It has been an unconvincing start to the season for Montpellier, who have claimed just two wins from their opening seven matches. They have already been beaten by some of the big teams, losing 3-2 at home to Marseille before suffering a 2-1 defeat to champions Lille.
Montpellier have been vulnerable at the back all season and have one of the worst defences in Ligue 1. They have kept just one clean sheet this term and have also conceded three goals on three ocassions this season.
