PARTICK THISTLE entertain Queen's Park in the first leg of the Premiership play-offs quarter final on Tuesday night.
A fascinating Glasgow derby was set up after Queen's Park blew their chance of automatic promotion and the title on Friday night in that title showdown with Dundee.
The Spiders were 2-1 up and got it back to 3-3 at half time, but offered very little after the break and eventually went down to a 5-3 loss when only a win would do.
Worse was to follow when they discovered they had dropped to third place after Ayr United had won, which meant an extra home and away tie.
And Owen Coyle's side now have to face an in-form Thistle outfit, who have lost just once out of their last 13 games.
The Jags had to endure a nervy evening of their own and could only draw in Fife against a Raith Rovers side with nothing to play for and who could only name one outfield sub on their bench.
There should be a bumper crowd inside Firhill though, with the second leg to come on Friday at Ochilview. Theoretically, that should give Queen's Park an advantage, but these games are notoriously tricky to call.
How the bookies view it
Partick Thistle are favourites and odds-on across the board with McBookie.com's 20/21 the best on show.
Queen's Park can be backed at 11/4 with bet365 and the draw is 5/2 with Paddy Power.
Recent head to heads
Queen's Park had won all three of the Championship meetings up until the sides met at Firhill last month, but Thistle hammered them 4-0 in Maryhill.
Players to watch
Scott Tiffoney grabbed a vital equaliser in Kirkcaldy and he's one of the best players in the Championship. He will be aiming for his tenth goal of the season and of interest when the goalscorer odds come up.
Captain fantastic Charlie Fox showed he can be a real goal threat through set pieces with a double against Dundee, Ultimately, it counted for nothing, but the defender is a danger.
Anything else catch the eye?
There's a growing sense that Queen's Park have peaked too soon and Thistle can take advantage with a first leg lead.
The Spiders looked tired in the second half on Friday at Larbert and the draining occasion must have taken a lot out of them. They are on a run of just one win in seven games and that was against Hamilton Accies.
Queen's Park did make it up the hard way last season too through the play-offs, but you get the feeling the club itself wouldn't be altogether devastated if they didn't make it to the top flight for the first time since 1958. They are nowhere near ready.
It could easily be another cracker though despite the occasion. Both sides have goals in them and have been suspect defensively recently. Go for over 3.5 goals at Betfred.
