Napoli vs Cagliari

, KO: 19:45 , Diego Armando Maradona
Cagliari

Champions Napoli will look to make it two wins from two to begin their Serie A campaign as they welcome Cagliari to the Maradona on Saturday night.

Napoli clinched their second Scudetto in three seasons, and their fourth overall last season, as they finished a single point clear of Inter.

Antonio Conte’s men made a winning start to the defence of their title last weekend, as goals from last season’s MVP Scott McTominay, and new marquee signing Kevin De Bruyne earned the Partenopei a 0-2 success at Serie B champions Sassuolo, earning an 11/10 winner for our man Gabriel.

After finishing in 16th position, five points clear of the relegation zone Cagliari made the decision to part ways with survival specialist Davide Nicola and promote Fabio Pisacane from the Primavera.

The 39-year-old managed to avoid defeat in his first game in charge in charge in Serie A, with a 94th-minute equaliser from Sebastian Luperto earning the Sardinians a 1-1 draw at home to Fiorentina.

How the bookies view it: Napoli favourites

As expected, Napoli are firm favourites to make it two wins from two to begin the Serie A season, with BoyleSports quoting them at just 3/10.

The same firm has Cagliari a massive 17/2 to leave Naples with all three points, whilst the draw is 15/4.

Head to head: Three on the bounce for Napoli?

Antonio Conte’s men did the double over Cagliari last season, winning 0-4 in Sardinia, whilst their 2-0 victory at the Maradona on the final day of the season sealed their fourth Scudetto crown.

Players to watch: McFratm to make his mark again?

Scott McTomimay is already off the mark for Napoli this season, heading in the opener in their 0-2 victory in Emilia Romagna last weekend. The Scotland international scored 12 times in Serie A last season, including the opener in their historic final day 2-0 victory over Cagliari, and is an appealing 13/8 to get on the scoresheet once again here.

Predicted line-ups:

Antonio Conte will be missing full-back Miguel Gutierrez and last season’s top-scorer Romelu Lukaku, with new signing Lorenzo Lucca expected to lead the line in the Belgian's absence.

Cagliari are expected to be without their captain Leonardo Pavoletti through injury.

Napoli: Metet, Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Jesus, Oliveira, Lobotka, Anguissa, Politano, McTominay, De Bruyne, Lucca

Cagliari: Caprile, Zappa, Mina, Luperto, Obert, Prati, Deiola, Adopo, Folorunsho, Esposito, Borrelli

Anything else catch the eye?

Antonio Conte turned the Maradona into a fortress last season, with his side winning 45 points from a possible 57 (W14-D3-L2), with both defeats coming against Atalanta (3rd) and Lazio (7th) at the backend of last year.

13 of those 14 victories in front of their supporters featured fewer than four goals, and a repeat pays an appealing 10/11 at BoyleSports.

Napoli have remarkably kept clean sheets in seven of their previous eight Serie A encounters – as well as in both victories against the Rossoblu last season – and a Napoli Win to Nil also appeals, which pays 10/11 at BoyleSports as well.
