A closely fought encounter is expected as Millwall host Watford in a midweek Championship fixture. Both teams are level on points at the moment but Millwall have impressed at home lately and should have the edge over the Hornets.
Millwall are coming off a 2-1 victory at Bristol City in their previous Championship fixture. Efforts from Tom Bradshaw and Zian Flemming either side of a Shaun Hutchinson own goal were enough to earn then the win.
The result means Millwall head into Wednesday’s clash with just one defeat from their last five Championship matches. Gary Rowett’s men have claimed three wins in that run and are now just two points off the playoff places.
Home form has been pivotal for Millwall this season as they have won five of their seven matches at the Den. Their previous home fixture was a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough with Flemming netting a brace.
Watford were also victorious in their previous Championship fixture as they triumphed 2-1 over Norwich City. They raced to a two-goal lead through Imran Louza and Keinan Davis and were able to hold on despite the Canaries pulling one back.
It was the first win for new manager Slavan Bilic which also ended a run of two straight defeats. Sitting just two points off the top six, they will be keen to launch a push for one of the playoff places.
However, the problem for Watford is that they have struggled on their travels having claimed just one away win all season. They have also lost two of their last three Championship fixture on the road with their most recent outing ending in a 3-1 defeat at Blackpool.
