Burnley continue their dominant march towards the Championship title as they travel to Millwall for a midweek fixture.
Millwall have found their form in the second half of the season and played their way into the promotion playoff contention. They are currently part of a group vying for the final playoff spot but ahead of the pack on goal difference.
The Lions have claimed three wins and a draw from their last five Championship matches. Gary Rowett’s men claimed a 3-2 victory over second placed Sheffield United in their previous fixture with Tom Bradshaw netting a hat-trick.
While it was a good win over Sheffield United, Millwall have been generally erratic at the Den recently. They have been plagued by too many draws and that was only their second win in the last eight matches across all competitions.
After dropping rare points at Turf Moor against Watford, Burnley made a swift return to winning ways last Saturday. They claimed a 1-0 victory over Luton Town with Ashley Barnes scoring the only goal midway through the second half.
The Clarets are still the team to beat in the Championship as they sit 11 points clear at the top of the standings. Vincent Kompany’s men travel to the Den unbeaten in their last 12 matches, claiming 10 wins in that run.
Burnley have also impressed on their travels this season and have won their last five away matches. That run, like much of their campaign, has been driven by a solid defence that has conceded only one goal in the last five fixtures on the road.
How the bookies view it
Burnley have the edge among the bookies and are priced at 32/21 by SBK to claim the win on Tuesday. A victory for Millwall is valued at 2/1 with William Hill while a draw is set at odds of 12/5 by bet365.
Recent head to head
Burnley are unbeaten in the last five meetings with Millwall, claiming four wins in that run. The Clarets claimed a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in August.
Players to watch
Tom Bradshaw’s hat-trick last time out to take his tally in the Championship to 10 goals and will be the one to watch on Tuesday. Bet365 has the forward at odds of 10/3 to get on the score sheet on Tuesday.
While Burnley have multiple attacking options, Nathan Tella is their leading scorer with 12 Championship goals this season. The attacker will be the one to watch on Tuesday and is priced at 9/2 with bet365 to get on the score sheet.
Anything else catch the eye?
Both teams have plenty of attacking quality and could be backed to score at 10/11 with William Hill. Millwall saw over 3.5 goals in their previous fixture and Saturday’s clash could be set for a similar outcome at 13/4 with Unibet while over 2.5 goals is valued at 6/5 with Paddy Power.
Burnley have opened the scoring in their last five away matches and could be tipped to grab the first goal on Tuesday at evens with Coral.
