Ruben Amorim and Graham Potter are both under pressure heading into the new season so it will be interesting to see how their Manchester United and West Ham sides are shaping up in the Premier League Summer Series this summer.
With Everton and Bournemouth also taking part in the American pre-season tournament, these games should give all four a decent warm-up ahead of the domestic campaign getting back underway next month.
Manchester United's whole season rested on the Europa League Final last term and with Amorim's side losing that showpiece to Spurs, it has piled pressure on the Old Trafford boss.
United's three summer signings so far, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Diego Leon, all look like decent acquisitions but Amorim still has a huge job on his hands transforming a team that came 15th in the Premier League.
West Ham only finished one point and one place ahead of the Red Devils so Potter's task this summer also looks like a tall order.
The Hammers have sold maverick forward Mohammed Kudus to Spurs but things have been quiet in terms of incomings, with only Kyle Walker-Peters and El Hadji Malick Diouf checking in so far.
Potter will be hoping having a pre-season to fully implement his style of play will make a big difference and this clash with United will provide some insight into how well things are going.
How the bookies view it: Red Devils to edge it
This is a tricky one to call with both teams underperforming last term but BoyleSports make Manchester United 20/21 favourites. West Ham United are priced at 19/10 and the draw pays 9/4.
Recent head to head: Hammers on top
West Ham have been something of a bogey team for Manchester United in the last couple of seasons, winning four of the last five meetings. The Hammers came out on top in both games last term, winning 2-0 at home then 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Players to watch: Cunha out to impress
Matheus Cunha didn't get on the scoresheet in his first outing for United as they drew 0-0 with Leeds in a friendly. But the former Wolves star did impress and could be worth a punt for a goal at 2/1 with Bet365.
Niclas Fullkrug didn't really get going in his first season at West Ham due to a succession of injuries. But the powerful German could be a big player for Potter if he can stay fit and is also 2/1 for a goal in this one.
Probable line-ups
Mbuemo could make his first appearance in a Manchester United shirt after finally sealing his move from Brentford but keeper Lisandro Martinez and keeper Andre Onana remain out.
Crysencio Summerville is still sidelined for the Hammers while Walker-Peters could make his first appearance after moving from Southampton.
Manchester United: Bayindir, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Shaw, Amad, Casemiro, Mainoo, Leon, Fernandes, Cunha, Mbeumo.
West Ham United: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Diouf, Ward-Prowse, Orford, Soucek, Paqueta, Bowen, Fullkrug.
Anything else catch the eye?
This is just the second outing of these teams in pre-season so they will still be a bit undercooked. Manchester United's match with Leeds was a bit of a non-event so it could pay to bet against BTTS here at 11/10 with BoyleSports while under 2.5 goals pays 20/21.
Both managers will make a lot of changes after the break and that could lead to more mistakes being made. So backing most goals to come after the break also appeals at 21/20 with Bet365.
With little at stake and the teams more worried about building up fitness, I'd be surprised if we saw a lot of corners but I can't see any markets for that yet.
