MANCHESTER UNITED host what should be an epic FA Cup quarter final against hated rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday in what is their last attempt to claim some silverware this season.
United have endured another horror show of a season really and look certain to miss out on a Champions League place after a completely unacceptable 11 defeats in the league so far this season.
Just as Erik ten Hag showed signs that he might at last be steering United in the right direction, after a run of five wins in a row, they go and do things like lose at home to Fulham.
They led in the Manchester derby, only to eventually lose 3-1, but in reality they were overwhelmed and outclassed and remain miles behind City, Liverpool and Arsenal in quality and consistency.
Liverpool are coming off the back of cruising through their second leg Europa League tie against Sparta Prague where they added a 6-1 walloping to their 5-1 first leg lead and were able to rest players.
Of course their priority is to hand Jurgen Klopp a farewell gift of the Premier League title, but with the international break coming up, they will certainly field a full strnegth team and go for the bragging rights in front of an increased allocation of 9,211.
How the bookies view it
Liverpool are favourites here at 5/6 with bet365.
Manchester United can be backed at 29/10 with Coral and the draw is 3/1 with Paddy Power.
Recent head to heads
United managed to frustrate Liverpool at Anfield to get a goalless draw earlier this season, but it will be a long, long time before they can live down their 7-0 annihilation last season.
United did manage to beat Liverpool at Old Trafford 2-1 last term, but lost 9-0 on aggregate the previous season.
Players to watch
It's been far from a vintage season for Marcus Rashford, but he has scored in his last two games to get his tally up to eight for the season. The England forward is 14/5 to score anytime with Coral.
Mo Salah was only a sub against Manchester City last week, but looks certain to start at Old Trafford on Sunday after three assists and a goal in midweek. The Egyptian's season has been disrupted by injury and he will be keen to get back on the scoresheet at 7/5 with UniBet.
Anything else catch the eye?
Liverpool should have hammered United when they played at Anfield in December with a shot count of 21-5, but with the hosts having to commit more forward players with it being their home game, that should play into Liverpool's hands and they look a solid bet at 5/6.
At the moment, although United are capable of matching them on their day, there remains a gulf in class.
The Anfield side won the corner count that day 12-0 and they are 13/10 to win seven or more with Paddy Power at Old Trafford, which is a decent shout
